My guess would be bug bites. They can cause rather large lumps that appear suddenly.

Good luck.

BUGS! This is a common problem, the bugs bite the horses flesh, and like when we get bitten by a mozzie, a lump appears. Some horses react more than others, and sometimes they can cover the whoel body.

It can also come around by stress, i would call the vet and if they are just bites, antibiotics can be given, if its stress, i suggest camomile and rosehip, garlic is good if bites and as a general health kick to help stop infection and it will stop the bugs biting, acts like insect repellant. Rug before dusk and dawn, this is when bugs are around more, and use a full body rug, betetr than a cooler rug.

I hope this helps

He/ She could have allergies, my horse has Allergies to mosquitoes bits, and gets lumps under his neck but also a little lump where the mosquitoes bit him so that might be the case but i would check with a vet!!!!

Call your vet. Where are the lumps? When you touch them do they cause him discomfort? How big are they?

hives. most likely some allergic reaction to something. a lot of horses are allergic to oat hay or something like that and will break out in hives. its not dangerous or anything, just kinda gross.
