I was gonna say Augustus, thanks a lot! Errr... You could name him after a Norse god. Wodan, Thor, Frigg, Noki, something... Erik the Red... Leif (Lief Eriksson, the guy who REALLY discovered America in about 1,000 A.D.), Charlemagne, Constantine, Pompeius, Leonidas, Domistacles, Darius, Xerxes, Lacedaemon, Remus, Romulus, Aristotle, Nostradamus (Michel de Nostradame), Galileo, ect. ect. ect. Look these guys up. Plus, in doing so you'll find other names. Or just watch a documentary. Please, edit your post and add the name you finally chose.
P.S. Napoleon is a very common name for turtles, make him a good turtle and he can add a little bit of a bright side to the name. Just because Napoleon Bonaparte isn't viewed as a good person doesn't mean that there aren't good people with the name Napoleon, either.

If it were girl i would go with Chelonia.
Turtles, Tortoises, and Terrapins are reptiles of the order Testudines (all living turtles belong to the crown group Chelonia), most of whose body is shielded by a special bony or cartilagenous shell developed from their ribs.
If it is a boy I would go with someone strong from history like Odin.
In Norse mythology, Freya is the wife of Odin and goddess of love, ... Odin was the god of battle and victory and if a warrior who believes in Odin should ...
p.s. what is the reason you cant name him Nepolean
or.............
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The pizza-munching turtles originally appeared in a black and white comic book that debuted in 1984. They were so popular that they immediately spawned imitators with colorful names such as "Armor-Plated Adolescent Aardvarks!" and "Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters". A cartoon series based upon the Turtles' adventures debuted in the United States on the CBS television network in 1987.
The first names of turtles -- Michaelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, and Donatello -- are the names of Italian Renaissance artists who lived between 1386 and 1564. Three of those artists had full names which were respectively Michaelangelo Buonariti, Raphael Sanzio and Leonardo Da Vinci, but as for Donatello, that was his only name.
This website is all about people naming their turtles. Its funny

Well, I actually just got a turtle and named him Bernard! Maybe there is someone in history with the name Bernard? But anyway, I think that that is a cute turtle name.

Dioxippus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dioxippus
'Dioxippus was an ancient Greek athlete, renowned for his Olympic victories at pankration. His fame and skill were such that he was crowned Olympic champion by default in 336 B.C. when no other pankratist dared meet him on the field. This victory was called "akiniti" and remains the only one ever recorded in the Olympics in this discipline. The most famous story of Dioxippus is his defeat of Coragus of the Macedonian Army......'
