A baby horse is called a foal. A boy is a colt and a female is a filly. Hope this helped. :)
Added on after reading previous answers:
A yearling is after a year or so to 2 years. Sometimes they are still called colts or fillies (if you see racing, you'll hear "3 yr. old colt").
If a male horse is neutered, he is then called a gelding after about 3 years. An unneutered male is a stallion. A female horse is a mare.
A pony is 14.2hh or shorter (4" to a hand). A horse is 14.3hh or taller. Sometimes you will hear a 14.2-14.3hh horse called a large pony.
Hope that gave you all the needed information and cleared up some confusion!

Generally called a "foal." After time, people will refer to a female as a "philli" (sp?) and a male as a "colt."
