She was 13, and developed respiratory distress, from unknown causes. We have no children ,and our animals are our babies. GiGi was our "first-born". Our grief was overwhelming, and a turnip would have given us more compassion than the vet's office did. No sooner did the assistant take GiGi in the back room, than the other assistant was sticking her head in the room and telling us how much we owe them. I do realize it's a business to them, but to the grieving owners, a little compassion goes a long way. I feel like someone has kicked me in the stomach, and all they wanted is their money. When did people lose their compassion is what I want to know? This was the single hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life, I am 52, and, a part of me died today with her. And all they wanted was their money and their room back for the next client.

I have a yearling tovero paint colt. He has blue eyes, one has dark skin (natural eyeliner) around it, the other has pink skin. The pink skinned eye waters a lot. I've heard you can have the pink area around the eye tattooed (while the horse is sedated of course) by a veterinarian and that will help the horse be more comfortable. Has anyone had this done? Did it work well? Would you recommend the procedure? Please no smart alec answers, this is a serious question from an educated horse owner.
Thanks!

Grooming salon vs mobile service as a career?
what are the benefits of both? what exactly does the mobile groomers do? Do they just set up anywhere on the side of the road? do people call them? do they groom the pet inside or outside the van?

Will my rabbit need assistance in giving birth to her kittens? It would be very helpful if someone could tell me. Do they do it on their own?

i have had very special pets

"aussie" my precious lil australian terrier. he helped through surgery when i was young. we would pull ourselves "commando crawl" along on our bellies together. he ate doritos with me. My dad always said "he had the heart of a lion" , i tear up thinking of him now.

but now that i have children, there is no comparison. when i got sick of playin with aussie he went back outside with "gypsy" and "rebel".

i would lay my life down for my kids, i wouldn't for my pets.

i also "get" that some people can't have children (that would be devestating) but please don't compare your ANIMAL to my children!

That is so disgusting, and pretty damn cruel. Some may say that its no different from eating beef and pork, but that claim is wrong. Cows are pigs have never been as close to humans as dogs and cats have. The latter have had close bonds with humans for centuries, all over the world.

My boyfriend wants to buy me a rat for my birthday, something I've wanted for a long time. It's hard for me to get out and about, so I haven't been to a pet store in a while, and have no idea how much they cost. Anyone have a general idea of the usual cost?

I am torn apart between these two cages. The Martin's R-680, and the Martin's R-690. See which one you like better, and cast your vote, and explain it, because i cannot make a decision.

thanks!

Should you get off the horse and walk it down a steep hill or is it OK to ride?

Also, should you ride when the ground is really muddy, like after a big rainstorm or should you get off and walk your horse until finding firm ground?

My dog got into a fight with a raccoon last night and ended up killing it. He got a lot of little scratches on his neck, chest and face, and one really good size gash across his nose. He's had his rabies shot less than a year ago, but is there anything else I need to do to make sure he's ok? Is there any residual clean up, shots or medication, or precautions I should take? The last think I want is to think everything is ok because my dog lived and have him die because I didnt do something afterward. Thanks!

I have 3 stables and a tack room on an acre of land. I was thinking of renting it out. Is there a call for this and if so, what rent could I charge. The stables are more or less brand new, each one 12ft x 15ft.
Its near Wincanton in Somerset?
