It is just a difference in culture. I'm sure if you went to China and told them that you refused to eat cats and dogs they would think you were the odd one. If you went to India and ate a cow you would be considered a heretic and a barbarian. That being said you should be aware that dogs and cats have been eaten or used as tools by most cultures around the world at one time or another. Just because you do not understand it, and don't agree with it, doesn't mean that everyone else should feel the same way.
P.S. I also love cats and dogs, and do not agree with their being eaten. However, that doesn't give me the right to look down upon others for their own beliefs.

Your point would be what exactly.Ethics in food?We domesticated the dog to work for us.The cat came much later. In fact it came after we developed farm stock.Small cats were domesticated again to work for us on farms.Yes they did later be seen as a companion, though as well in hard times they became supper.Just because a culture of people still see these animals as food is no reason to down their opinion because it may differ from yours. In the USA they do a lot of publicity and advocate to spade and neuter cats and dogs because there are so many strays and ones in animal shelters.Perhaps eating them could help solve the over population problem in many areas. After all when they euthanize them they just discard them away.Explain how this is different.
Kaye it is safe to say you know little about what you are talking about.Yes in some parts of China they do have a limit of one child per married couple. This is because they have an over all population of near 2 billion people. They limit the population so the population can be supported.BY what you said you are saying it is better let them have 5 children because of human rights and four of the five will stave to death.good call.

Dogs and cats are very special to humans in America. Not everywhere. I'm sure people in India aren't too pleased that we eat Cows. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'd be appalled at how we even treat them. The fact is, it is a difference in culture.

The ability to raise large animals for meat is limited in China, which is why smaller, easier to raise cats and dogs are eaten. Because of the lack of uncrowded land mass, all food is appreciated and used in China. Did you know unlike here where we don't use half the chicken, they eat every part of it? Bones and feet even are used in medicine. It seems strange because you're not in that culture. They eat bugs in other places (China too actually- locusts are a treat in parts of China), but most find it odd here. Because of population desity leading to less food sources, Chinese have a saying that says "if we can get it in our mouth, we eat it". While personally I don't think any animal should be eaten, I think it's fair that any domestic animal be game if we're going to eat meat. And don't let yourself think North American slaughter houses and meat operations are any better then Chinese. Watch the Meet Your Meat video. Just google it and you'll find it.

You shouldn't be so ethnocentric. I love dogs, but I don't criticize other people for what they eat. I'm pretty sure you eat things that would be considered "wierd" to other people.
Oh, and Indians are not "horrified" that people eat cows. I am Indian and only Hindus don't eat cows. Not everyone in India is Hindu, lots of people do eat cows there.

You're going to hate me for this. Check out the history of the (spell check collapse) taco bell dog. They were originally breed as food. they were traveling dinners who went with the army's and got whacked for dinner. Now why do the Chinese and other races eat cats and dogs? Because they are a source of food, besides, cats are delicious.

Guys, cats and dogs are only eaten in the villages where they don't have anything. In cities, people don't do that. And when you are damn hungry and you got nothing else to eat, a dog or cat would look very tasty. mind you, we chinese love cats and dogs also. as much as westerners.

i do no longer in all probability care that lots in the event that they consume canines and cat. with a bit of luck the extra funds they earnings the extra coaching they might become so as that they might finally end looking wild tigers. yet in any case canines and cats get abuse in us of a too merely like in all international places particularly those in puppy shops, by fact previously they arrive there they're born in domestic dog generators and/or kitty generators that are animal farms that are very merciless to animals. Or what approximately animal testings. What approximately snuff movies which prepare animal cruelty and/or pornographic acts with animals, many times contain crushing loss of existence of an animal. regrettably that no longer unlawful in us of a, by fact it replaced into secure by skill of freedom of speech. What approximately circuses they abuse and forget animals too. So regrettably each international places have some sort of animal abuse yet thankfully there are some international places which attempt to strengthen that by skill of making rules to guard animals.

Well, it's YOUR belief that it's worse than eating cows or pigs, but that's not what THEY believe. In India they are horrified that we eat cows, but it's perfectly normal to us. Tolerance for other culture's beliefs is the only way this world can survive...
