Grooming salon vs mobile service as a career?
what are the benefits of both? what exactly does the mobile groomers do? Do they just set up anywhere on the side of the road? do people call them? do they groom the pet inside or outside the van?

I'm not a groomer but I prefer our local mobile groomer. I know her rig was a pretty big expense - it is one of the more modern truck-type units. She needs an an electrical outlet to plug into for some services (like her dryers), but the rig has its own water tanks. My dogs are far less stressed by not being crated in a strange place while waiting to be groomed and picked up (even though they are crate trained). My one dog lies down on a bed in the rig while the other is groomed because she doesn't like being separated from her buddy. I also don't need to be here which is very convenient. She can come while I'm at work, get my dogs, groom them and leave me a bill. We do this monthly and it works great. She charges maybe 10% more but it's worth it.

Everything is set up inside her truck and ready to go at each stop. She just plugs in. I've seen the inside and it's pretty impressive. The rig was an expense but she pays no rent either. She got a loan to buy it. She advertises in the local paper and phone book and truck advertises itself. She has a good reputation and a devoted clientele which also helps advertise her business. She has an answering machine and she returns calls for appointments in the evening. Her hours are her own since she has no shop hours - she just makes appointments. But I do believe she is very busy.

Our humane society had a dog event last week and she came as a sponsor and offered free toenail clips. It was on a ranch and one dog managed to find and roll in a cow pie. Without a power or water hookup, she was able to shower the dog down (after we doused him with a couple buckets first so we wouldn't mess up the rig too much), so some services can be done without the power or water hookups.

Hi
the mobile groomers go to the peoples house... ( i think)
and everything is set up inside the van.. so you do all the grooming in the van..
I have my shop out of my home.. but if i had the money.. I think id rather do the mobile thing... keep the mess out of the house.. ( well i have a separte room, but still)
keep people out. LOL
so i would think the benefits of a mobile would be you go get the dog... and when your done.. you just take it in to the people..
where as in a shop... ( my experience) people keep coming.. are you done... or calling.. is my dog done yet.. bla bla bla
but I guess they could set up somewhere that it was allowed.. not sure about just side of road... but somewhere... you could put out flyers or something.. saying you were going to be at such and such place... on ...Friday from 9-6 and Sat 10-5.. something like that... If you need your dog groomed come by to make appt.. i dont know.. lol
i dont know how much room is in there.. what if 10 people came.. lol... ah.. let me think about this..
i cant answer this question again tho can I..
??

Mobile groomers have a van that is equipped to bath, dry, and comb out the dog inside the van. Appointments are made to go to the persons house - hook to their hose spigot (tho' is some cases this is not necessary) hook up to the properties electric and groom the animal in the van.
They are providing the client a service by coming to them, and do not have the over head of a building etc. They do however have the costs of the van.

Hello..the most important thing you have to have more then anything else is a GREAT LOVE of animals..otherwise it's all of the above..mobile or stationary..think it's more of a rewarding job then a money maker tho & you do need education to know what you're doing..might be good to volunteer @ one for awhile & see if you're cut out for it..it's not all just shampoo & cuttings, there's, dirt, bitings & liabilities, etc as well..Take Care :)

nicely, my proper buddy works at a dogs groomers, and my auntie owns it. My proper buddy gets paid 10 income step with dogs he grooms, and he has to pay the rest to my auntie. My auntie works there long hours, and he or she keeps all the income she gets, and 3 different workers there. it fairly is approximately $25 per dogs, so I presume components value approximately 5 funds, so ten funds income to my auntie per workers dogs.
