SB 861 was passed by the California legislature in October, 2005. Put plainly, SB 861 authorizes any California town to slowly remove from the dog population any breed of dog by allowing a town to require forced sterilization of any particular breed that they choose to target. While we believe that responsible pet owners should neuter or spay their dogs, we also believe that it is not up to a state or town to make that decision, and not on a breed-by-breed basis. In addition, having a particular breed targeted by a local law will make owning that particular breed less attractive, perhaps even intimidating (can you imagine having the police stop you every time you walk your dog so that they can inspect her belly, or look between his legs?) This of course will only hasten the town becoming free of that breed. Thus, while SB 861 claims to only be about sterilization, it truly is a law designed to help towns ban breeds.

Today around 2 hours ago, my pet bird was decapitated and eaten by what I assume was a cat. I didn't actually see it, but I've been wondering if there are laws that defend pet owners in these circumstances.

I'm hoping to be able to find the animal that did it, domestic or not. I know there are laws for humans killing animals, but are there laws for the case in which one pet to kills another's pet?

Please help!!! I got my gerbils right before Christmas this year. I have approximately 3. Two have been living together since they were born, and one is all alone in a seperate cage. Today (March 29) I put all of them together in the same cage, thinking that they'd be better off together than one being alone. When they went together the two gerbils that have lived together (Oreo and Smores) started attacking him!!! I tried to seperate them, but my alone gerbil (Twinkie) freaked out and bit me while he was on his back wrestling with Oreo and Smores. Twinkie bit Smores on the side of his nose while my dad picked up Twinkie and tried to help him so he didn't get killed. Twinkie bit my dad and my dad started bleeding badly on HIS finger!! So my dad accidentally flung Twinkie to the floor,Twinkie was put in his cage, but I don't know if Twinkie or Smores is hurt, but I'm really worried, Smores is just sitting in a corner and seems a little scared what should I do, are they hurt?Please Help

I was walking to my bustop with my friend cause its the day my car broke down! And as we were walking we see something out of the corner of our eyes jump. It was a rabbit! I guess it got hit by a car and it was laying on the side of the road with HALF of its body working. You know how if a dog has paralysis and it drags its back legs? thats how it was! She was trying to get up on the curb with her front legs and her back legs were dragging. So I called 411 for them to connect me to animal control so maybe if anything they could humanly euthanize it so it didnt suffer but they were closed! Then my bus came, and it was just a mess!

All day I was so upset, I was about to skip school until Animal Control opened. Do you think if I go check for it tomorrow that it will still be alive? I was supposed to go after school but I wound up having to go to work until 8. Also was it suffering? I feel so bad for leaving it there.

hey everyone, i got a baby mouse a few days ago hes maybe a week old. his eyes are still closed. ive been feeding him special formula. i was wandering by hand feeding will he grow up to be friendly towards me? i started out fostering him than decided to keep him. hes so cute.

My horse is into its sixth week on training and still showing to be a bit stubborn - she's an Apaloosa and would love to be the alpha mare but isn't. The trainer talked to another trainer and he said that if she does something like buck, rear, or bite our feet we should crack an egg on her head, because horses don't like things to run down their face and she will actually think it is blood running down and maybe think okay I just made myself bled so I won't do that again. I think we are going a little crazy now - somethings I was okay with but this one seems a bit wacky to me - what do you think?

well i was woried and since i can't take him to the vet, i just put him in a big bin with water and food and alot of aspen.
3 hours later, i check on him and he's all dried up.


does wet tail dry up even when sick?


could the wet tail look be caused because my male hamster was licking the other one?

I have an 8 week old bunny that I got about 5 weeks ago. When I very first brought her home and she was getting used to her cage I heard a faint squeak/squeal noise. I haven't heard anything else but grinding and chewing.... until today. I heard this squeaking sound and looked over - she was laying down in her cage on her side with her eyes closed and i freaked out....however, it appears she was just sleeping, as she is hopping around like a happy, healthy bunny. Should I be worried?
