I suspect what you saw was a wild rabbit such as a cottontail.
This breed of rabbit has a very delicate nervous system and it doesn't take much to throw them into shock.
As the animal got hit,it's spinal cord was probably severed but also as one answering your question said,it also probably had alot of internal bleeding.
It is this internal bleeding that does infact cause more shock trauma than anything else.
The animal might have felt some pain but shock would take most of that pain away and the internal bleeding would cause the severe loss of blood and in that case, the rabbit more than likely started feeling cold and sleepy and eventually drifted off to it's death.
Nature is a wonder thing and takes care of these innocent little creatures and shock is a good tool.
Having worked in hospitals and with sick people for the most part of my adult life, most patients who have ever experienced shock will tell you that once they went into shock, they don't remember much until the shock was treated. . . . same effect with the rabbit.

I am pretty sure they put it to sleep. The animal was suffering badly, and most animal shelters will just put an animal down. You did a good thing, because once rabbits injure themselves there really is no way of saving them. That's why rabbits aren't good for little kids. But you did a good thing by calling animal control! Dont feel bad, the rabbits in a better place now.

Not to be negative, but I would think it would be gone or dead. Do I think it was suffering, probably. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth. Stop feeling bad, you did what you could do to try and help it. I'm sure someone else came along and took care of the poor little critter. Sorry you had to endure such a traumatic expierence.

Well, I love rabbits, but the rabbit population is still high. I think that it probably won't be alive, so don't get your hopes up. Just pray and wish it the best. I hate those kind of situations where you wish you could help but you know that you can't . It s sad.

It probably was going into shock when you last saw it. I'm sorry to say but if the rabbit was bleeding internally it is probably dead by now. I don't know what else to say to reassure you...but hey...you never know...maybe it will still be alive tomorrow.
Good luck & Best wishes :)

It probably wasnt suffering as much as you think.
If its back legs werent moving at all then they probably werent broken - it is more likely that it has spinal chord damage and had lost use of its back legs - this also means it would have lost feeling in them.
however, yes it could still be alive, and yes it needs to be put down.

Yeah it was suffering most definitely, and it is dead now for sure. You likely couldn't have saved it, but putting it out of it's misery would have been a kind idea.

the poor thing will not be alive, but you did the right thing to call animal control. if the little thing was lucky something killed it fast instead of suffering.

i imagine that the rabbit was either euthanzied or died on it's own. There was nothing else you could have done. I know it was hard but things in nature happen
