You will need to keep the salt lick dry. Your mouse will chew the salt lick to wear down its teeth. This is healthy behavior. Make sure you keep a salt lick in the cage because a rodents teeth continue to grow during its entire life. If you don't keep something thing there to wear them down, they may grow trough the roof of its mouth causing death.
But, since this addition, you will need to keep a closer eye on your pets water bottle. Dehydration is just as fatal to humans as it is to your pet mouse.

I thought your question was a matter of life or death judging by the way it was worded.

PLEASE, next time, just put the subject and short question in the box.

Perhaps you are inclined to be a drama queen!!

All you have to do is place it in his cage. You don't do anything to it at all. They lick them. there is nothing that has to be done to it.
You can attach it to the side of the cage if it has a way to do that.
Calm down. he'll love that.

you lick it. Kidding. You attatch it to your cage ( on the inside ) then your mouse will nibble on it. or lick it, whatever he feels like doing.
