In very few areas is it legal to own a pet skunk with no permit. Skunks make good pets, but they are high maintenance and you can't just feed them dog food. They have to have a special diet prepared for them, including vegetables, meats, seeds, and nuts. They are also litter-trainable. They should be neutered/spayed at about 6 months of age, and be descented(removing the anal glands so they cannot spray). I know for a fact that it is legal to own skunks in Wyoming without a permit. You can do the same in Georgia, as long as the skunk is not black and white.
Here's a link to tell you if they're legal to own in your area: http://www.skunksaspets.com/states.htm.

Check with your local Game and Wildlife Dept. and with your city ordinances.
Even though skunks get their scent sac removed, they still tend to have an odor about them. . . the descented skunks at our local zoo were really skunky smelling anyway.
I had the ocassion to live in Missouri and while there,I foung 4 baby possums on the ground and took them in and intended to care for them.
Called the Game and Wildlife Dept and was told I had to have a permit to raise them and once they reached adulthood I had to release them.
Had the same experience with a baby raccoon I wanted to keep.
Both of these animals are a nuisance in Missouri and I would have never dreamed I'd need a permit to raise them and I sure never thought they'd care if I kept them for a pet verses releasing them.(Skunks kinda fit the same description.)

I know some people do have pet skunks. They have their scent sacs removed. I don't know what kind of pets they make and I would also check to see if they allow you to have them as pets where you live.

Skunks are related to ferrets. Get a ferret, so you won't have to worry about locating one, finding a vet that can treat it, or paying ridiculous amounts of money to buy one.

yes and no owning a wild animal is illegal in most states without a license you must have this license to own one but in most cases you cant get one without being an animal rescue center. if you can get away with keeping it get it debagged (have the sprayer removed so it cant spray you or others) and remember it is a wild animal you can tame it some but it will still be wild

you can, but the scent glans have to be removed so he wont spray you and it has to be rasied for a pup by humans i think, you cant just pick one up and bring it home with you.
