Okay, so there is no confusion, I have a total of 3 male bettas, all in their OWN tank. They each have a heater(76F coldest -82 warmest), filter, 3 silk plants, and 1 or 2 hideouts. 2 of them each have a 10 gallon, the other one has a 5 gallon. My problem is finding compatible species, I got 4 rosy minnows, the pet store owners said they would be ok, but the next morning they were hiding underneath the hideouts, not coming out. (they were moved into a community 29 gallon tank, much happier) Now the people at the shop said male bettas could pretty go w/ most peacefull community fish cept tetras and bettas. I dont want a recapse of what happened to the minnows, so what would be great fish to put w/ them? I KNOW THE INCH OF FISH PER GALLON RULE, TANK WELL CYCLED, DECHLORED, DO HAVE AQAURIUM SALT IN WATER THOUGH. I had 3 ghost shrimp w/ the male who terrorized the minnows, and they were fine, but they were moved into 29 gallon when he got sick, and they are staying there. I

My betta fish is not moving. It's on the top of the fishbowl, but if I poke it, it will flutter and move a bit. It won't eat now. There's been a couple of days since I fed it, so did it starve? What do I do?

I think he's dying... What I mean by that he looks like he's standing, is that he's struggling to swim upward and he can't, he keeps falling back, and he's positioned vertically...Is he dying?

I recently purchased two 2 1/2 inch long Tiger Oscars. Right now, I have them in a ten Gallon aquarium, and wanted to know if a 20 Gallon aquarium would be sufficient for them when they get bigger. How big will they get?

So I have a five gallon freshwater tank. I only have two little dwarf platys in it right now. The water was kinda cloudy for the past week or so and just over the last day pretty much cleared up completely. Still, all of my ammonia, nitrate, nitrite readings have been good. Today my tank is testing at about .20 ammonia, which isn't that high and I'm wondering if I should leave it alone or do a partial water change. what is the best way to clear up trace amounts of ammonia. I don't want it to get worse.

It might happen. I have mixed feelings about this. The reason they are banning them is because in the lower states, irresponsible pet owners have released plecos into the wild, and they are disrupting the natural eco system. Most people release their fish into the wild because the fish has grown too large, as is a common problem with common plecos especially. I think common plecos should be banned, because they grow too large for almost any aquarium, and the average person does not know this because many pet store employees lie about the size of these fish just so they can make a few bucks. I think people need to pull their heads out of their rear end and do a little research, and the pet stores need to think about true needs of the fish, instead of just trying to make money. Because it is the many clueless people who are ruining it for those of us who actually know what we are doing and enjoy it very much....

I just bought a 5 gallon tank yesterday and I don't have any fish yet, but I really wanted a goldfish. So I went to the pet store today and they said there's no way I could have a goldfish in 5 gallons, not even if it was a small fish. Is there anyone that has had goldfish in 5 gallons before or that would know if it would be healthy for the fish? I really want to have a healthy fish and I don't want it to die after a month. Any advice??

It's marbled black and white. It has clear fins with black spots on them. It has 2 barbels and 4 little feathery things that it uses to sweep the rocks with. It's about 1.5 in. It was sold to us by a Walmart employee as an upside down catfish. We have an upside down catfish, and it isn't that.

I have a Penguin 200. The wheel turning and the water dripping on the plastic causes a lot of noise (the tank is in my bedroom). I took the wheel out for a minute and all that could be heard is the humming of the filter. I use two media cartridges. I have heard it is okay to remove the wheel and leave two filter cartridges in at all time, and want to do it. Has anyone else done this?

I have 2 crayfish and just yesterday I got 5 guppies for my tank. Today I came back and one of my guppies (the one with the longest tail) was all broken up and half gone and it seems pretty clear to me that one of the crayfish got a hold of it. I was scared of just that because I read online that crayfish have been known to eat small fish but I have small crayfish. I am removing the crayfish tomorrow but I was curious as to how long the fins/tail take to grow back? Mine had a beautiful tail and I really want it back. Please let me know if you had a fish with half a tail and it grew back.
