I went to this pet shop/garden center today to get some neon's. The placed looked nice and the people working there seemed ok. When my son and i got to the tanks there were loads of dead fish about. There are about 80 fish tanks and you could say there were 1/2 dead fish in every second tank. When i said about it they said its from the children banging the glass but school had only just finished. You would think that some one would be there with the fish all the time while they were at work, making sure if there are any dead one they would take them out so that the tanks look nicer. What can i do as they dont seem that bothered about the fish.

Sorry its such a long question

I'm Italian, I love the city, and I love sunsets.

I want the name to evoke those aspects.

Ideas?

He sits at the top of the tank and seems to be a dull color? What is wrong and what can I do for him? I have a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and change a 1/3 of the water weekly. He is also fed Bettamin twice daily.

I have two male betta fish in a divided tank, one time i saw that one slid past the divider and both fish were on the same side but they left each other alone. another time the tank moved and it got past again and they fought.

so the questions are:
1. will they kill each other?
2. how long does it last? (i go to classes i want to make sure if they slipped when i wasn't home they would still be alive)

I am in love with orandas but i'm not quite sure where to find the ones I am looking for. Please help me. I know that petsmart does not have them. Are there any stores where I can find these: blue oranda, white oranda, and black/white oranda? ( I want them to be small or medium size, not big 3-4 year old fish )

Don't think fish are cheap pets. Here I will go through a 10 gallon setup with the bare minimum supplies, priced low but also not comprimising quality. The tank will be for say, 2 apistos, 3 black tetra, and 3 oto cats. No extra additions (live plants, medication for sick fish). American prices.
10 gallon tank--$7
Stand--$19
Hood and lighting--$14
Gravel vac--$6
Net--$1
Test kits (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)-- $20
Filter (underwater hob)--$10
Gravel (2 bags)--$4
Fake plants (5 small)-- $5
Rock cave ($1/pound aquarium rocks pieces)-- $3
Heater-- $8
Dechlor--$2
Algae wafers--$2
Cichlid food--$3
Flakes-- $2
Fish (in this scenario)-- $20

That's $126, bargain shopping (trust me, these prices don't compare to some areas) for the bare minimums for a 10 gallon aquarium. Next time you think of fish as cheap pets, think again.

Many people on here seem to think that all snails are terrible little creatures that do nothing but overpopulate the tank. This is not true. The big ones don't breed much, and when they do, they lay a big clutch of eggs above the water line, so you will easily see it and be able to remove it. The small snails are the ones frequently considered "pests" and even this is not true. They only overrun a tank if you let them by not maintaining your tank and/or by overfeeding. I have a well established 29 gallon tank (10 months) it has

1 angel
2 diamond tetra
1 rainbow shark
1 gold algea eater
2 corys.

I know the tetras and especially corys like to be in larger groups but I'm afraid to overload the tank. How many more should I add to make these two fish happier?

The 120 is ready for some fish (FIshless cycle 6 weeks). I originally wanted:

6 Cory cats
6 Angels
3 Bala Sharks
6 Serpae Tetra
3 Pictus Catfish
2 Rope Fish

I am now willing to give up the sharks :-( so I need something else instead. New most likely setup:

6 long fin rosy barbs
4 pictus cats
6 angels
1 albino shark or rainbow

Other possibilities: gouramis, cory cat, ropes, diamond tetra.

Any other recommendations. I'd really like something similar to the bala shark. I like silver and bright colors.

which would you get and in what order?

Thanks for your help!!!!

I have a 50 gal tank and want to stock it with mollies. I have nothing in the tank as of now. I am not new to this so I know about how to cycle the tank and all. I just have not had mollies before. I hear they are a little different to care for. Any suggestions? Also, what type of bottom feeders will go with them? How about Mystery Snails?
