Some people get the impression that bettas are murderous fish that will attack and kill any other living creature.
This is not the case. Bettas ARE territorial, but only with other bettas.
They are absolutely fine with other small community fish like tetras. So, yup, go for it: if you have the room, of course, one male betta and some neon tetras would be just fine.

the general answer is "yes" i personally don't think anything goes well with a betta except plants. they have very different temperments. imagine putting the biggest bully you know in a VERY small room with your grandmother -- only with fish you don't even know which one is going to be the bully and which one will act like a grandma. and then there is always the chance grandma will beat the crap out of the bully. so many posibilities. fish are kind of the same. i have had very docile bettas that wouldn't hurt anything -- can't even figure out how to flare. i have had others that attack their filters for no reason other than they are there. people try dwarf frogs and sometimes the dwarf frog eats the betta (believe it or not). there is no perfect answer. you can try and see if it works but be prepared for fish casualities on either end. most people are shocked when some little fish shreds a bettas fins and then the betta dies. it happens a lot.

Yes, I currently have a betta in a tank with several types of tetras. The betta lives in normally stagnant water with little current so I try to keep the turbulence/current down on one side of the tank, he prefers the slower water.

Never keep two male bettas in a tank or for that matter a female with the male. There mating is rather hard on the female and he will eventually kill her. I have had success in keeping multiple females together, they bicker but otherwise do OK.

I've had very good luck keeping a betta with tetras in the same tank.

Bettas seem to get into conflicts with more showy fish (those with big fluffy colorful fins). The more streamlined fish like neon tetras seem to get left alone by them.

Betta's aren't a very aggressive species & can be mixed into many communities with success. People mistake their inter-species quarreling with a general mean streak way too often.

Betta fish ignore non-bettas, they are not vicious outside their own species. we have kept bettas for years without trouble, with various small tetras and other fish.

We only had one problem, fin-nipping. Betta male fish do not do well with any fish that do fin-nipping - such as barbs. I've never seen tetras fin-nip so they should be fine.

Only get one male betta though, and if you get female bettas get more than one, as the male pesters any females - the more females the more his attention is divided. The females also need places to hide from the males...

i don't know anything about neon jumbo fish, but as long as they aren't terratorial they shoud live fine with a betta. I had a betta that lived a FULL healthy life my tank, we had goldfish and a handful of other specias that i've forgetten but....they never once had problems. after he died and i moved i bought another betta to live with a couple gold fish and.....the betta would chase the gold fish every now and then but.,...no harm was ever done.

Yes, they should be just fine together. Both are not particularly aggressive fish and enjoy similar water conditions. Neither is so small it would be food for the other.... no problems at all. I have kept bettas with other fish on name occasions, including small tetras like neons. People telling you bettas are too mean don;t know bettas.

Yes. You can only have one beta male in the tank. They are very hostile towards other males of there own species.

Beta's can also fight with fish that have fancy tails and fins. Not always though.

Most beta female can swim with anything.

I do not know what idiot decided these fish need to swim in a small tank. It is a terrible shame. They just lie there likes lumps for the rest of their lives.

I had a beta male swimming in my pond. He was a gift from a neighbor who couldn't take care of him any more. he swam with large feeders and fancy tails. he lived in the pond for over a year. he was three years old when he died. To my knowledge, he never attacked one of the other fishes.

Betas do not get along with any other fish, not even another Beta. They are fighting fish ad will kill anything else you put in the tank.
