To add on, if you are considering either the Powder Blue Tang or the Blue Hepatus Tang (among many other names for this fish), I'd agree that a 55 gallon tank is a minimum, and something like a 90 would be better.

And they do grow grow fairly large, although they do so slowly -- I've personally seen both over 8" in length. And, like the previous poster said, they need lots of room to swim, no matter how big you get them. They are used to foraging over coral reefs, moving from coral head to coral head looking for algae, small invertebrates, etc. to eat.

A 20 gallon is not a great idea -- besides, it's harder to keep things stable in a smaller tank -- the only drawback to the large is the upfront cost and space it takes up, but if you can handle that, go larger.

Further, Powder Blue Tangs are notoriously finicky -- a bit less "hardy" than many other saltwater fish. Pretty, but fickle.

Hope it helps!

If you mean a powder blue tank (Acanthurus leucosternon) then I would say nothing less than a 55. Seems like a lot of tank for a 5" or so fish (yeah more in the wild) but they like all tangs a surgeonfish need plenty of open swimming room. As for a website, they are a dime a dozen and nothing more than a persons opinion most of the time.... just like this. lol

I agree with the above. 55 is a bare minimum for any medium sized saltwater fish. The bigger the tank the more stable the environment.
