I have angelfish, silver dollars, neon tetras, and a female beta. will they enjoy the sand or stick to gravel? Is it hard to maintain? I've heard it gets cloudy.

Okay, I put my question in capitals because it would attract more attention. smart? DUH-UH! =) Anyways, my goldfish isn't poo-ing, the last time this happened which was a few days ago, i changed the water, and i think because it was cold, he pooped - ALOT so is there another way to get the fish to poop, or why it ain't pooping. BTW. he always swims @ the top when he's not poooping. =)

My husband and I want to get a 20-30 gallon fish tank, and it's our first time caring for one since we were children. We'd like some advice on what kinds of fish are hardy and good for first timers. Any tips or guidance are much appreciated!

Guppys, Mollys, or Ghost shrimp. Will be raising my own. Which is the easiest with best results. I know not to feed live from store and to have more than live in their diet.

Is it OK to use windex to clean the outside of the fishtank as long as I'm careful not to get any of the cleaner actually in the water? Also (throwing another quetion in here so I don't have to spend another 5 points, hope thats, er, legal) it seems, from what I've read here, that rocks/gravel is preferable to sand in a tank and I'm thinking about switching since I currently have sand. What's the best way to clean the gravel without actually removing it from the tank? That seems like an incredible hassle...

My husband just got a beta fish and I'm completly clueless of the care for this animal! He seems confident, but for my own sake I'd like to know how to care for it!

Sit down and give me the 101 on Beta Fish, please!

I have a new, small 10 gallon tank that I recently set up. I have 3 small fish (two tiger barbs and one swordtail) in it and it started stinking a few days ago. Should I just wait a few weeks for the water to cycle? I also plan on doing the 25% water change every week or 2 weeks. Any advice?

Have any of you heard of this? It's a tank made for fake fish and really cool but I'm wondering if a real fish could live in this tank?

I have a 72 gallons saltwater tank with 2.5 inches space between the wall and the tank. It also have 2 inches openning at the back of the tank. Any hang-on protein skimmer would fix the limited space. If not, any in-tank protein skimmer is good.

I have a 20 gallon tank with the following:
2 male swordtails
1 female molly
2 glass catfish
3 brilliant rasboras

Until recently (2-3 weeks ago), I only had one swordtail. I bought another and added him to my tank. The two swordtails got along fantastically for the first week or so, swimming around together and etc. However, in the last few weeks the new swordtail has been bullying the old one. The poor fish hides in the plants and under/behind the decorations, and is constantly being chased. His fins are getting frayed at the ends, whether from stress or being nipped or both, I'm not sure.

What do I do to make the new swordtail stop bullying the old one?

I'm worried. I got a red clawed crab 2 weeks ago. He has spent this time in my betta tank and he was OK. I would find him in different places every time I would look for him, I have seen him eating a couple of times too. Then I set up his brackishwater environment and transfered him in. The water temp is at a steady 78*F [25*C], gravity is right at 1.007. I transfered him in 2 days ago and he's been sitting in almost the same spot this entire time. I dropped a sinking food pellet right next to him and he doesn't display much interest. I thought he was going to be happy with his new home. I poked him, he's still alive and kicking.
Any idea why this is going on? I don't have a kit yet to test the water, but it should be OK. As I said, 2 days old, I have a Tetra Whisper pump with activated carbon filter, water is nice and clear.
Any advice and links to red clawed crab behavior would be more than welcome.
Also, do fiddler crabs live in the same environment? Could I get 2 females maybe?

my son got a one gallon fish tank for his birthday. i bought him a little fish, one of the see thru kind with neon colors on the top and bottom. the fish just stays on the bottom and i havent seen him eat since we brought him home this past friday. i know the pet store people and the fish tank box said 1 fish per 1 gallon of water, but i think that fish is too lonely. do you think it would hurt the fish to bad to have another little fish in there with him? i think he would do better with a playmate. what do you think?

I have had aquariums before, so I know how to run them and all. But now I am setting up a ten gallon aquarium just for me and want to get at least one goldfish ( a black moor goldfish to be somewhat precise ;p). What other fish should I get to go with it? Can I keep beta fish in the same aquarium?
