Female bettas. 3 female bettas would be perfect for a 10 gal tank. They're hardy, beautiful, intelligent fish. If you do go for the bettas, be sure to put in lots of plants. Also, they'll create a pecking order of sorts, so they might chase each other around for awhile, but will generally be stable within a matter of days.

I was given some Black Skirt Tetras and Serpae Tetras that were a few years old and they lived for another 3 years!! that's hardy. Zebra Danios do well also.

guppies and other small live bearers (endlers, platties etc) are PERFECT for 10gs. the key is to buy undiseased ones...tetras (neons, cardinals etc) are great too!
dwarf gouramis, corries,
no goldies. 10g is too small for even one. they are not fish eaters. they will go after fry, but any fish would. theyre the most non agressive fish out there.
silver dollars get tooo big. ditto to mollies- 4inches+ is just too much
good luck-

guppies, mollies, and goldfish are not good when grouping with other fish. Mollies and guppies tend to have diseases, and goldfish eat smaller fish. Look for tetras and whatnot, and don't buy your fish at walmart unless you want diseases.

rosy red minnows, they're small, schooling, and they reproduce faster than guppies. they breed, lay eggs, then 4-6 days then they're hatched.
