Usually the pink "man-o -war" jelly fish is blown towards the beach by the wind. It is one of the only floating jelly fish.
If you take up the sport of 'snorkeling', you will see other species of jellyfish that float at a depth of 2 to 5 meters. This is the depth that has the most sunlight and nutrients for a "filter-feeder" like the jellyfish.
The pink "man-o-war" is the most irritating jellyfish to be stung by. This will hurt your skin, until you can URINATE on your skin. YECCH.... but all other little clear white jellyfish just tickle your skin, or feel sticky to the touch. Don't be afraid.

GO TO A WARM climate, like Florida, Mexico, the Bahamas. Then snorkel in 2 to 5 meters of tropical sea water. You will see some jellyfish propelling themselves with a rhythmic pulsation through the water.... I guarantee!

Saltwater, under the surface. Or you could go an aquarium. The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, USA has, or at least had, a neat display of jellyfish.

The New England Aquarium in Boston has an amazing jellyfish exhibit as the first thing you see when you come into the entrance, so I bet you'll see them if you go there!

I think we see them here in Washington in July and August. If you are out on a boat or at the beach or looking at the water from a pier or bridge, you can see them in the water. Some of them are clear and some are phosphoresent and glow in the dark.

this usually happens in the spring or early summer i think when they are seen washed up on the beaches in florida. but while in the water they are almost impossible to see! they can sting you even after they have died so stay clear of them even if they're on the beach!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say... when you are in or near saltwater.

I mean... you prolly aren't going to run into any at Wal-Mart or while you are jogging in the park or anything.
