I have a 20 gallon tank and a 5 gallon tank. I always end up putting my fish in the 20 gallon tank and then the water gets to dirty, and I have to change all of the fish into the 5 gallon. I need some tips in how to keep my 20 gallon tank clean all the time. I already have a filter, bubbles, heater, and the fish. I need a web page with information about how to keep a 20 gallon tank clean.

I have a 29 gal. freshwater tank, and we're looking to add a second, much larger tank. We LOVE our aquarium! It's been set up for about 3 years now, and it's been pretty successful (until my spotted catfish got bored one day and ate all the neons).

I would like to keep the 29 gal. as a semi-aggressive tank with catfish, gouramis, sharks, etc. and use the bigger tank for community fish, like mollies, neons and tetras. Have any of you had a community freshwater tank this big with these species? Can I use a few seashells from the ocean in a freshwater tank of that size? Is it harder to maintain than a 29 gal? And it's going to be on the second level of the home (1st level is a finished basement). Will my floorboards hold that much weight?

I appreciate any tips and advice.

I was thinking of choosing 2 or 3 Fresh Water Angels...in a 20 gallon tank. They would only be like 2 or 3 inches long and I would get them a bigger tank in a few months or move them into my 50 gallon and throw those stupid goldfish out in the pond. I was thinking of about 4 - 6 Neon Tetras and some Guppy's as tank mates...maybe a pair of platies.

What do angel fish need though! I bought a nice one for $40.00 put him in my tank the next day it was dead, every angel fish I got. Thier fins would turn red and rip and they would die or they would grow fungus!

Hi,

Ok I recently started to have fish, and I love bettas! I have a blue male here in a small tank with a filter and bubbles...At first he seemed perfect and loved his bubbles! Now, recently, he's been sleeping at the bottom on the gravel, BEHIND the filter...He was always on the gravel facing down...So I cleaned his tank, put the water a little warmer for him...but I just found him behind the filter again! What is he doing? Is that normal?

I have another red male betta in a small pot...I just switched them...Now the blue one is swimming and seems fine...But I'm worried he's dying anyway...

Is it normal that they sleep on the gravel OR stay at the very top of the water? My previous bettas did not live very long, so I'd like to keep these guys healthy!

I have a beta fish in my aquarium along with a few tetras and guppies. I have found 3 dead fish in my tank in the past 48 hours and have had the tank for about 6 days now. I truly suspect that my beta fish was up to the job as I noticed that the victim's fins had been "eaten off" Is there anything I can do about this without separating the beta fish from the tank or will I continue to have further victims? I'd like to add more fish to my 10 gallon aquarium but now I'm afraid to introduce them to this little, aggressive bad ***. Any tips could help.

Thanks in advance

i have a 24g nano cube tank with male mollies and male guppies, have 10g tank with all the female mollies, since they are still producing babies each month they are out growing the 10g and i want to switch the 4 male mollies into the 10g and put the female mollies back into the 24g, would the male guppies mate with the female mollies? i want to slow down or stop the production of babies, since i am not allowed to have another tank and the only stores that said they would take the babies said they would sell them as feeder fish. i personally can't give the fish away to be sold as food and i don't want to buy a fish that would eat the babies to control the population so i am looking for a better solution. can i put female mollies with male guppies and they not mate?

I had a goldfish and 2 plecos in an aquarium and the goldfish died the other day. My mom mentioned that the plecos might not have enough to eat now that the goldfish wasn't making the aquarioum dirty. I've always fed them 1/2 an algae wafer every night. Should I give them a whole wafer, or should I give them to someone I know who has an aquarium? I just don't want them to starve to death.

Currently I have three male rosy barbs in an established 10 gallon tank. I'm looking to add a couple of tank mates and would like to find a good fitting fish that will get along with the semi-aggressive barbs. I have considered the Red Rainbow Shark, but I'm a little worried that these fish are too territorial and shy to get along with the Rosy Barbs which seem to be a lot more active than the Rainbow Sharks. Tiger Barbs seem too aggressive so I am thinking they aren't my best bet. I also like the Pictus Catfish, but I worry they are too big for the tank and for the Rosy Barbs. Does anyone with expertise on Rosy Barbs or Rainbow Sharks have any suggestions? Thanks!
