I have a new aquarium. It is a 30 gallon tank. I've got rocks, a filter, a heater, foliage, rocks and a air bubble maker (I don't know what it's called) I'm new to this. The tank is second hand, as is the filter, heater and air thing. I have new rocks, foliage and the thing that goes in the filter. I've had it all running for about 2 weeks, which I have read that I have to do before putting fish in it. Is there anything that I am missing? I don't want to spend a lot of money on fish, to just find out I missed a key piece and they all wind up dead.

When did someone think, "Hey. I'm just going to take some fish out of the river and put them in a bowl of water so I can look at them."?

It punctured his finger down to the bone, and we're trying to figure out if he needs to see a doctor. He drained it, scrubbed it with soap and water, and put rubbing alcohol on it.

Will this be enough?

I don't know what to put this under, so fish it is.

I bought some super ick cure liquid and I think my tank is a 50 gallon. On the directions for use it says to remove activated carbon from filter. Forgive me I know nothing about this... So I took the filter completely out. Was I supposed to? If not, then how do you get the carbon out of the filter?! How do I know if I need a new filter? The tank was given to me and I have no clue how old it is (& it was put together- not by me). Do you buy a whole new filter or is it something you take apart and buy parts to? Anyone please help! I'm fish stupid. I thought goldfish were supposed to be easy to take care of. Thankyou for any advice you can give me.

In a salt water reef tank, I have a maroon clownfish, some various hermit crabs, and too many bristle worms to count both durring the day and at night. Every time I add a new fish (dwarf angels mostly), it does great until the lights go out and it hides for the night. What could be killing it by morning?

Found a website that said to add salt to an aquarium when spawning bettas to keep velvet out...can I use icecream rock salt? I have eggs...will it be safe to add salt now? If it is ok to add salt, I was going to disolve it in treated water in a seperate container and add it to the aquarium.

"Hi,

My 2 year old Betta Fish's fins are curling all of a sudden at
the edges, with tiny little lumps at the base of his tail.
Otherwise he is eating and active as of this morning. What
does it sound like, and how can I treat it, please? I'm very
worried.

Many thanks, Carol"

I have had it set up for a few weeks. I have an algae eater, some type of pink kissing fish, an eel, and some other that you can see through, I forgot the name of it though. But anyways. How should i properly mantain it? I feed them in the mornings and evenings. When do I change a % of the water? when should i put chemicals in it? and when should i take the fish out and clean the tank thoroughly? And when should I clean the gravel?

Please don't say the 1" of fish per gallon, because its not true. All of my fish are just fine, and I know they will grow too large for the tank, when they get much bigger I will just upgrade to a bigger tank.

When the males reach up with their gonopodia, the females will jerk around and swim away. The females are already pregnant from the fish store I bought them in a few days ago, I think.
