I have a Red Heeler, aged 2, and he acts aggressive to people he doesn't know. He jumps, barks and growls at them, and they get very frightened. My husband won't put him in obedience school, and whenever my daughters friends come over, they either have to stay in her room, or he has to be locked up. My mom is coming to visit, and I'm afraid Trigger (The Dog) will scare her! We've tried everything to get him used to people, but it doesn't work. Please help me!!!

She is medium sized, black with white and gold, named Nipsy. She's a border collie mix, smart, sweet, friendly. She dug under the fence and lost her collar. She's done this before and we thought we had secured the back yard. In the past we would find her within minutes or a few hours. I'm really worried. We've put up over 300 flyers, gone to 3 animal shelters 2x/week, posted in 3 newspapers and about 6 or 7 websites, and have talked to our neighbors....She's so friendly I am thinking maybe she is with another family. We are offering a reward and looking into eletric fences. The problem is she gets out of her harness/collars......What else can I do to find her???

I have a 11 month old yellow lab (male) he barks constantly, still likes to bite, tried training, spray bottle w/ water, can w coins to startle him, pinch collar. Hes great with my wife and I but get him around other people he wants to jump. We just got a mastif (female) puppy 8 weeks old and they get along ok but he gets a little to aggressive at times so we just watch them playing very closely so she won't get hurt. I have a 4.5 month old pitbull puppy. I know what is required of this breed and I am fully committing to him every day. He gets plenty of exercise as well as obedience training. He's very well socialized and gets along great with kids and other animals. So what's the problem right? Although he is the sweetest and most obedient dog I have EVER owned, I'm getting scared reading all this crap. The docile pitbull who killed the one year old, I mean that dog was sweet and gentle and then it snapped. I'm asking other pitbull owners... are there any warning or distress signs to look for in the future. I'm home alone while my hubby is at work. He gets plenty of love, training, and exercise but what are some other pointers to make sure he STAYS this way forever?

I have a labrador retriever that we just got a few weeks ago. She has had a few accidents in the house, but other than that, it seems she may actually be potty trained. I have been watching her very closely, I take her out quite often as well.

She will walk around in front of me and just act different. Unfortunately when I'm asleep or I'm not paying as much attention to her, she has an accident. I was just curious, is there any way we can teach her to be a little bit more pushy when she needs to go. Maybe even bark or something. I don't mind watching for signs, but like I said, when I'm asleep or even when my husband is just home, it would be wonderful!

Sorry so long!

I have a 2 year old black lab/doberman mix who is really sweet and really well-behaved. The ONLY thing I cannot break him of is going into the kitchen and getting into the trash. Any ideas on how I can do this? I've tried just telling him "no", but as soon as my back is turned he's trying to get in there.

I have no idea what else to do. He listens to no for everything else, but the lure of the trash is too much for him.

My dog has had trouble opening his mouth this evening. He wandered out for awhile and when he returned we noticed that he wouldn't open his mouth. We have tried and he has growled and barked at us, which he had to open his mouth. He has not eaten and he has tried to drink water but he can't. He has been trembling a lot. What could be wrong with him? I am going to give the vet a call in the morning. I live out in the country, I wish I could take him to the vet now. Is it possible that he got bit or stung by something. Anybody have an idea.

I went to the SPCA today to look what they had. I've been talking about adding a Cocker Spaniel to our family for about a year now, and brought it up today. Well, we went to town and I wanted to stop at the shelter, which we did. Just as I walked in they were putting a surrender Cocker Spaniel in a kennel. Whoever droped her off didn't give her age, but they guessed around 1-2years old. The things is, I've looked up what young puppies coats look like, and hers resembles a younger dogs coat. Basically it is shorter and thinner, but doesn't looked cut. You can tell it will thicken up, and that she is purebred, so that's not in question. What I want to know is anyone who has owned a Cocker, how can you guess at a better age, by an unaltered coat? Well, let me amend, her paws had a bit of trimming on them, but not much. Coat on top knot is about 2 1/2 inches, as well as legs and sides.

i don't know where the phrase "all dogs go to heaven" came from but i've heard it a lot.

So that means all tigers must be going to hell since they are bloodthirsty carnivores and killing machines. Makes sense. Right?

Does anyone know if you can do this on ANY UNTIED AIRLINES FLIGHT? Also aprox. how much does this cost? and do they charge you twice if you are scheduled to switch planes?

I've been blessed to have Lilly, my Italian Greyhound, for almost eight years now. Her best buddy died about six months ago. I have a younger Italian Greyhound who constantly bosses Lilly around. Lilly just seems sad. The only remedy that I can think of is to give her extra attention, love and time, away from the controlling little young one.

What else do you think would help cheer her up? My husband and I decided to take her "bye bye" by herself as much as we can and just spend time with her. By the way, I have three other dogs so Lilly definitely shares her attention time among the others.

If you have any kind suggestions, I thank you from my heart. I love her so much and it hurts to see her so sad...

My 6 month old Alaskan Husky got neutered on Tuesday (4 days ago today). He hasn't had any accidents in the house for months and since yesterday he's peed in the house 3 times! 2 smaller spots and one large spot. I've also noticed since he's gotten fixed, when we let him out he pees A LOT...much more than usual. Any clues as to what might be going on??

My cousin has a puppy who is 7 weeks old and it is VERY bloated! Almost scary. Since he's sorry and doesn't care I've bought the poor thing deworming meds and I'm trying to get the pup from him. Now I know you say take him to the vet but here's the thing...this isn't my dog for one (and no my cousin would let him die b4 taking him) and my husband is military.. needless to say we make just enough to SCRAPE by. Going to the vet is not an option..David (cousin) just doesn't care. If anyone could suggest anything other than the vet I would GREATLY appreciate it. If you have no suggestions then please move on I beg you...I can't tolerate another rude person today. For those that can help thankyou so much and god bless.

so i have two dogs...one i've had for about a year and is one, the other that i just recently got and is also one [i think]. well, when i feed them the one i just got doesn't really let the other one eat. she just runs back and forth to both bowls...lol i would usually put one on the porch and basically seperate em to eat, but now i don't really have the time to do that. but i will again lol.
and something else tht happens is when i try to play with them, the newer one wants to be played with a lot and just basically doesn't let the other one near enough for me to play with them both. everytime the older dog tries to play with the newer one the newer one growls

He's had two blowouts (raw patches) on his back in the last week that turn to scabs. He's also chewed part of his tail raw. I have not seen 1 flea on him. Is he allergic to something or is there some kind of microscopic bug eating at him? He's just miserable and the constant scratching is very annoying. Any advise before calling the mobile vet?

My dog has never had any problems with her legs. But today she went to jump on the couch and let out a little yelp she seemed fine after that. But then tonight I went to take her out for her walk and her tail is between her legs and she is shaking so I check her she doesn't whine or yelp or anything until I go to raise her right hind leg. Could this be some sort of a pulled muscle? I don't really have the option of a vet right now just moved so I am still in between jobs and I don't really trust the vets around here.

I have a small breed puppy that shivers all the time, so I bought him a couple sweaters today. I've read mixed reviews about them online- some saying they're a great idea- others saying that they rub the puppy's hair and can be bad for them. I was wondering if any of you had any opinions on this?

He's a shih-tzu mix with fluffy hair.
