thank you all for answering. We have taken her to our vet. And They say she is in great health ,ears are fine . She is walked twice a day at the walking park. I've heard a few things about the garlic. I will try that. The food we feed is ok with the vet. She is a husky. we brush her ever day. and fresh water is given all day long. Thanks for the answers.

Have you taken your dog to the vet for this reason? If not, I would recommend you do so. The smell could be caused by anything from allergies to a bacterial infection or a yeast infection to a thyroid problem or diabetes or mange -- lots of things.

Best to find out what the cause is and treat it accordingly.

Good luck!

ADD:

Try a little apple cider vinegar in the drinking water. Also give her a little plain yogurt mixed in with her food. Because you've been washing her so frequently, get her on fish oil supplements (they work from the inside out, good for heart health, skin, and coat) When you bathe her, use a gentle puppy shampoo and a leave-in conditioner.

There IS a little "vitamin" type thing you can give her, I don't know about its effectiveness. It's called Smell Goodies, made by the same company who makes Body Mints for humans. Google "Smell Goodies" and you'll get the info and their link.

It can become a vicious cycle, bathe her too much she'll lick because of the irritation of dry skin, then you bathe her again because of the smell. Dogs should smell like dogs to a certain point, and if she is clean, is not allergic to anything, is free of fleas and ticks, then she should not smell too bad, regardless of the breed. However, if she is being bathed too often or has any of the above irritants, she will smell worse than she should. Sprays and shampoos may be the allergins. Take her to the vet, and let him check her. He will have excellent shampoos and advice for you. Good luck.

Stop bathing her so often.

Check the food you're feeding. Poor quality diets contribute to a funky smell in dogs.

Or an underlying skin condition.

I say take a trip to the Vet.

I am sorry, but some dogs have an odor no matter what you do Talk with your vet. A change of food might help.. Your dog could be allergic to the food or something around the house and the odor is a reaction to the allergy. My heeler has no odor at anytime or breath odor, but my cocker is a stinker. Be sure you are using a good allergic shampoo could be her skin is reacting adversely to the shampoo you are using. lol

I'm not being rude here I love dogs. When an animal has come in contact with a skunk it is washed with tomato juice, would that help here. I don't know just trying to help. I have done the tomato juice thing on a dog in the past and it does help so perhaps in a less offensive way it could really help and the dog doesn't have to take any pills.

Yes maam, shampoo with apple or orange shampoo, and start the dog on Brewer's Yeast with Garlic tablets, read label and give according to its weight...the doggie odor will go away once the tablets have taken hold in about 4-5 days, try it, it really does work....also the tabelts prevents dogs from getting fleas, fleas will not get on dog once that has been put on these tablets, why you ask,.,,,it is common knowledge, fleas dont like garlic......kinda like a vampire they suck blood...well have you ever seen a vampire that likes garlic....

halitosis, will not cause a dogs body to stink...even if the dog has bad breathe.............

Try a little bit of olive oil in the food, might help with the smell, but if doesn't gives them a nice glossy coat. Bathing a dog to much can be bad for its skin. Smell could also be coming from the ears if it has flopsy ears.

Is she a char Pei? They stink no matter what you do. Bathing frequently only makes it worse with that breed. What Breed do you have?

If she isn't a Char Pei, then try making sure you clean the ears. They are typically the worst part for odor that no one seems to remember when cleaning their dog. Use something specifically designed to clean the ears and follow the directions.

EDIT: Husky- Try baking soda rubbed into her coat and then brush. Sometimes that can help.

Dogs roll in things to smell like dogs... you can try the "Doggy Wipes" in the pet aisle at Wamart for in between baths.

An ear infection can make a dog smell pretty bad.

Also be careful not to bathe her too much!
