My dog has never had any problems with her legs. But today she went to jump on the couch and let out a little yelp she seemed fine after that. But then tonight I went to take her out for her walk and her tail is between her legs and she is shaking so I check her she doesn't whine or yelp or anything until I go to raise her right hind leg. Could this be some sort of a pulled muscle? I don't really have the option of a vet right now just moved so I am still in between jobs and I don't really trust the vets around here.

She is a 4 year old Border Collie German Shepherd mix. I gave her 1 baby aspirin after calling her regular vet (who is still in the state I moved from). I am going to watch her if she gets worse tonight or over the next day or two I will find a way to get her to a vet somehow.

Could be a pulled muscle, could be something worse.. You should take her to the vet.. If it's the cruciate, it could very well become more damaged if you leave it to see if it's going to get better.. Better to find out now, rather than later when the arthritis has set in.

Whether you trust them or have the money or not, she needs to be checked out by somebody- if it means driving to the next town over. It could be a pulled muscle, a torn toenail, or even a hairline fracture that will only get worse the longer she walks on it. My sister's 4 year old dropped the puppy while he was playing with it one day- puppy seemed fine in a few minutes- that night, she was dragging her leg- she'd fractured it, but it didn't hurt til she walked on it a while. You need to get this checked out.

Yes, your dog pulled a muscle and all the vet will do is give you muscle relaxers and have you pay a giant bill. Go to Wal-Mart or Pet Smart and pick up a bottle of Dog Aspirins. Follow the directions for 10-14 days and don't let her jump up or down or out of the car or anything like that. Lift her up the whole time she is taking the pills. Mine did this also and it cost us $200 plus meds. She is fine now, but when she doesn't want to jump up on the bed, we don't force her and just lift her up. Hope this helps.

I had my little Chi/Rat Terrier start running on three legs. I took him to the vet and she said he had, can't remember what is called, but it meant he had blown out his knee cap. The vet said it is a common problem epically with smaller dogs. After a few weeks he is pretty much back to normal but he does hobble around on three legs once in a while, I guess if he runs around too much it gets sore.

It could be any number of things. However, it will take direct examination by a vet to make a diagnosis and develop a course of treatment. I feel you have little choice except to consult one, even though you have yet to develop any confidence in the locals.

my dog just recovered from something like that. he was dragging his leg, but it didnt seem like his was in pain. we rubbed his leg, he didnt yelp. anyway, the doc. says he has arthritis. now he is running and we give him medicine still. i agree with a lot of these other answers. try to take him to a vet! poor doggie. :( hope he gets better.

could be a fracture or dislocated hip bone. You might want to pull out the ole' credit card and have her seen. a simple x-ray should say if there's any serious damage.

What kind of dog? Might be a back problem like I had with my dachshund. If you can't take her in, give her 1/2 baby aspirin to relieve her pain if it gets bad. But please do take her as soon as you can. She shouldn't suffer.
