I am flying from Memphis Tn to Casper Wy and am wanting to take my Toy Poodle as a carry on. Iv heard as long as it was in a carrier and it would fit under the seat, that you can do this.
Does anyone know if you can do this on ANY UNTIED AIRLINES FLIGHT? Also aprox. how much does this cost? and do they charge you twice if you are scheduled to switch planes?
My flight is already booked through United.
Memphis TN -Layover in Denver CO- Casper WY

THANKS!!!

Thanks for all your responses. I actually just called the airline :). They said i could take the dog. Its 85$.
They did say if they found out the dog had been giving any sedatives, they would NOT let the dog on. They said sedatives can be very dangerous for dogs on planes. THANKS AGAIN!

You must let the airline know that you're taking your dog and they will tell you the rest. You'll need papers from you vet that you get at least 10 day before your flight and an airline approved carrier. I have flown a lot with Untied with my dog, they are one of the best. Have a great trip;~)

Yes, you can take your dog, but it has to fit in an "airline approved" carrier --you can find those at your local pet store. They will be marked as ariline approved. You should also carry your dog's vaccine/license information to show your dog has been vaccinated against rabies and other typical dog diseases. You may be asked for it when you get to your destination even if the airlines don't ask on boarding.

You should also medicate your dog with sedatives. The trip is difficult for a pet without being let out of their cramped quarters, and is stressful. Their ears may hurt from the pressure, and they may bark as a result unless medicated. Medication for them is for the benefit of both the passengers and the dog.

There is no fee if they fit in the carrier that fits under the seat. If they are too large to fit in the carrier, you will have to put them in cargo - and I STRONGLY urge you NOT to do that. The cargo hold has extreme temperatures and varying oxygen levels. This method is the last resort. This area does have additional fees, and they do not guarantee your dog will survive. Your dog is better off in boarding than the cargo hold.

My daughter flew from Michigan to Florida with her dog on board. The animal has to fit in a carrier approved by the airline(the airline gave my daughter one). The dog cage was so small , the dog couldn't move. Thank goodness it was a short flight. The animal would be classified as a carry-on, but there is a small fee.(a one-time fee) Check with the airline for any other questions you have.

Your best bet is to call the airport. I know they used to, but I think in recent years they stopped allowing it due to the air filtration system and pet allergies.

Call the airlines. they all have different rules and I think they change them daily.
