For starters I've already phoned the vet and they said to just keep an eye on her and if her situation changes to bring her in. And my apologies for being a little 'graphic' in my details . . .
My dog ate a pack of my sister's cigarettes. Yes, my dog pulled the purse off a table after we had gone to bed and scrounged thru to find them, so please do not think this was in any way intentional. And I'm still angered at sis for not keeping such things zipped inside her purse!
However, anyone ever have this happen? What was the outcome? As near as we can figure she could have eaten about 10 cigarettes.
So far she has been eating & drinking normally. No vomitting but she has developed diarhea. Vet said that is to be expected but if she vomits or stops eating/drinking I should bring her in.

I am putting to sleep my dog, whom I've had for only 7 1/2 short years. She has major arthritis and some hip dysplasia. How do I get over her? She is sooooo much more than just a dog to me. How do I deal with the pain in my heart? and the grief?

well, just got my sisters dog groomed. she was in bad need of it. her name is ginger and well she was way happy about getting that done. they put a nice pink bandana on her at Pet Smart. but as soon as we got home she was wantin to get it off. either way they said they was goin to clean her anal glands. or some thing like that, is that what is done or was this lady just being a smart ***. either way was really happy with how she looked afterwards. will have to take some picture with her bandana on. well can someone explian what is actually done in a groomin. cause don't need detials about the cuttin of the hair. that is pretty easy to see what they did. but do they really flush out their asses...

He has had these pink raised bumps on his ears on and off for about the last year or so. They are warm to the touch and they are almost more inside/underneath the skin rather than being on the surface like a pimple or something. They are sensitive and he will hardly let me touch his ears when the bumps are there. They eventually dry out and flake, sometimes taking some his fur with it.

He is an 18 month old Chihuahua mix. Has anyone had any experience with something like this? What could it be?

I recently adopted a new dog from the shelter where I volunteer. She is a 4 yr old mixed breed, brindle in coloring. I have no idea what her exact pedigree is, but she looks like a brindle colored lab. My family, on the other hand, thinks she is a pitbull. My sister has one so far as to say she will not come over to my house as long as I have "that dog!" My brother says she is going to bite my children, and my ex-husband has threatened me with trying for full custody of the children because they are in danger from the "vicious pitbull". This dog passed the temperment test with flying colors. She is so gentle and laid back. Any suggestions as to how to get my family to be more acceptive of my new dog. She is not a vicious dog, and she may have some pitbull in her, but that doesn't make her a "bad dog".

what is the reason for it, I am assuming since a lot of people on here think they are lovely dogs that our government has made a huge mistake and just banned them for no reason. Also what are the statistics for being attacked by a pit bull, all I here about are the fatal attack statistics what about the people who survive attacks to tell the tale, surely they are worth noting too when you start reeling off your statistics and how theres only been 3 fatal deaths per year or what ever it is.

"pulling the hair out" or "plucking the hair out", but to me, when the vet did this, he held my dog's head down, flipped the ear, grabbed onto the hair inside of his ears with his thumb and index finger, and was ripping/pulling it out in a fast jerking motion. Now is this how it is supposed to be done, because yes, my dog had an ear infection at the time, but I think it would still hurt!

Okay so some byb set up their "puppy stand" outside of our local pet store every weekend (the same times our rescue does an adoption)
They are APRI registered hahaha!!!
anyway,
we live in texas and we were told it may be illegal for them to set up in a public parking lot and sell animals.
Also the puppies are only 6 weeks old...is this illegal.?
our aco does not care, and does not want to do the work.
The petstore parkign lot is community parking lot..so the sotre manager said that even if they are right in front of the store on the sidewalk he cannot say anything.
any advice on how to get these people to stop selling their 1500 2 pound yorkies? (mini greyhounds, teacup chis, chug, pugs...and the list goes on...)

13 puppies, the 11th was born dead, the last two weren't doing well. The 12th one has passed, I wonder if after the one dead at birth, do those behind him get what they need inside mom? I took the 13th pup, up all hours feeding, loving and she eats and sleeps well...she's still ALIVE! Pups are 4 weeks old and the one I have looks to be only 2 weeks. Her head thrashes around and canfinally stand on her back legs while desperately trying to stand on her front leg. She then topples over. What's exactly going on with this little girl? The mom refuses to feed her, I am MOM to her! This was a litter of an aquaintence, I took the pup knowing I'd be her only chance to live by devoting my whole self to her existence. She whines before and after eating. I put her in a dark room with classical music on, wrap her up warm and she sleeps 3 or 4 hours. Then I feed her again. I just don't know if she'll be alright, I'm pretty sure she'll live. Thank you!

I have four dogs. Two of them have kennel cough. My other two seem fine right now. One of them is a very small chihuahua and I have heard that toy breeds often can get gravely ill from minor infections.

Aside from keeping them away from her, is there anything else I can do to protect my little one?

Also, my vet tech told me antibiotics are usually not necessary for Kennel cough, but to watch out for seconday infection. Is this right?

We are supplementing our dog's diet with raw meaty bones and I am wondering when is it best to give her the rmb - morning or later? Also, do any of you feed this only? No kibble? I am reluctant to eliminate the kibble entirely - old habit die hard I guess :-). Any experience or advice is appreiciated.

She is 8 months old and has started showing signs of dominance. She barks/growls whenever people go up the stairs or leave the house. Telling her NO! and looking her in the eye stops the barking but she just does it again the next day. Do I have to re-establish pack order or just treat the barking
