Yes. "Labrador Retriever" is the breed. The colors the breed comes in are black, yellow, and chocolate. The colors are not different breeds in themselves.

For the sake of the dogs, please do not breed! If you have to ask a question like that, you obviously have absolutely no business breeding. RESPONSIBLE breeders have extensive knowledge of the particular breed, and the know how to handle the situation, including any crisis that might come up. They breed to better the breed of dog, not just to do it to make money, or for the fun of it. How about taking the time to learn about Labradors instead of asking questions here, maybe if you get off here and look it up, you will actually learn something.

If the parents are full blooded labs,,the pups will be full blooded regardless of which color labs they are. They can also have all three colors of puppies in the litter....chocolate,black,and yellow

Not a Black St!! shame on you,,,,did you know everything when you were a kid like you do now? Tell me then...what happens exactly if I breed two dwarf rabbits together with double genes in each parent? What do you call the babies that are produced from this?

YES!! They are LABS...just different colors. God help us.

stulisa....IF I was going to breed rabbits, I would know that. I do not breed rabbits, do not plan to breed rabbits, do not like rabbits, and am allergic to rabbits. If I was going to breed Naked Mole Rats, I would learn all I could about them too!!
This is the most BASIC information. Beyond basic. No one who would ask this should even be letting the thought of breeding enter their brain!!!! I may not have known everything I know now years ago, but I just asked my 7 year old this question, and she knew the answer!! What does that say? Can't you just see the up coming breeding, whelping, and puppy rearing questions that will be coming up in this situation??? I sure can!

YES!!!!! A Labrador Retreiver is a Labrador Retreiver regardless if it is black, yellow or chocolate.

"Black" Lab or "chocolate" Lab are NOT seperate breeds...they are only colors of the same breed!!

Labs are labs. The litter will probably be several different colors but they are still pure bred lab.

YES!!! Of course they are pure-bred pups! But some may- be black, others chocolate... but they are still pure-bred!

Absolutely. Color has nothing to do with the purity of the bloodline. The only way to really know if a dog is pure bred is to have it DNA profiled.
