For starters I've already phoned the vet and they said to just keep an eye on her and if her situation changes to bring her in. And my apologies for being a little 'graphic' in my details . . .
My dog ate a pack of my sister's cigarettes. Yes, my dog pulled the purse off a table after we had gone to bed and scrounged thru to find them, so please do not think this was in any way intentional. And I'm still angered at sis for not keeping such things zipped inside her purse!
However, anyone ever have this happen? What was the outcome? As near as we can figure she could have eaten about 10 cigarettes.
So far she has been eating & drinking normally. No vomitting but she has developed diarhea. Vet said that is to be expected but if she vomits or stops eating/drinking I should bring her in.

I can tell you a little worried even thought the vet said not to worry and just keep an eye on her. But she's right, no need to worry. If she thought the dog was in danger your vet would have told you to get straight over to their surgery.
Dog's stomachs can handle things you and I would need surgery to get out of our systems. But unfortunately it gives them diarrhea.
I think she will be back to normal very quickly.
Just make sure there's no More ciggies lying around as you dog may now be addicted. (Joke :-) )

Your vet gave you good advice. If she's acting normal now, she'll probably be fine. Keep close watch as the stuff works through her system...another 24-48 hours. Let the vet know of any new symptoms she demonstrates.

Make sure to keep the dog drinking a lot of water to flush it all out. It's what to do with any poison. Any slight change and make sure to bring her in right away.

haha my puppy gets into my family's cigarettes all the time and nothing has happened to him... It is cats that will get a serious reaction to nicotine.. not usually dogs. He is about 5 months old and he gets into everything. Once when my parents were fixing our sink, we had to run out to home depot and when we came back, he had eaten septo back. It is something that you flush down your toilet to clean it. I started to panic, but when we called the vet they told us that they eat so much worse... i mean he eats cat poo too... out of the litter box.. its gross but nothing happens to him. Their stomachs can take digest just about anything

keep her drinking - and if she seems to be off her feed then give her (aack!) canned food for one or two meals (easier on the tummy). She should be fine in a few days, but do take her in if she has any further symptoms.
