well, just got my sisters dog groomed. she was in bad need of it. her name is ginger and well she was way happy about getting that done. they put a nice pink bandana on her at Pet Smart. but as soon as we got home she was wantin to get it off. either way they said they was goin to clean her anal glands. or some thing like that, is that what is done or was this lady just being a smart ***. either way was really happy with how she looked afterwards. will have to take some picture with her bandana on. well can someone explian what is actually done in a groomin. cause don't need detials about the cuttin of the hair. that is pretty easy to see what they did. but do they really flush out their asses...

Just fillin time till the answers come in but yea they do the anal glands. Most dogs clean their own by nibbling but sometimes they get filled and have to be squeezed (uggh messy, I've seen it) and they do shavin round the gentitals, cutting hair out of ears and other things, clipping nails and trimming hair round the feet and toes

The dog gets a bath, also gets a conditioner and toothbrushing if requested. Anal glands are squeezed while the dog is in the tub. Some groomers automatically do it, others only do it if the owner requests it be done, and some groomers dont do them at all..they leave it for the vet.
Then the dog is dried,brusked/combed gets its hair cut, nails trimmed, ears cleaned and plucked (if needed) then gets a bow or bandana.

Yes, cleaning impacted anal glands is normal practice for groomers. Fecal build-up leads to increased bacteria which can cause infection and can be very irritating if left untreated. Most groomers will remove mats, bathe the dog, dry them, trim them, clip the nails, and clear impacted anal glands. Some will clean the ears and remove eye stains as well. Very few will even give a basic teeth cleaning with a brush.

most groomers do empty the anal glands, yes. If they are not done, the glands can get impacted. The vet can do it too.
Depending on the breed and what is needed, they will also pluck ear hair, trim hair on the paw pads, trim nails, and some groomers will also brush the teeth if requested.

It depends - usually the anal glands are cleaned out during a professional grooming, though not all dogs need to get it done. Most dogs will empty their own glands during defication, but if they are swollen or especially abcessed (or the dog has been scooting it's but) they need attention.
it's usually a wash and clip and drying
anal glands inspected during wash and squeezed if they need it
nails clipped
ears cleaned

You need to watch the dirty jobs show on Discovery Channel. They did this on that show recently. Dog has a some glands by it's sphincter that they squeeze to get out the "stuff". Mike on the show got sprayed right in the face - pretty gross.

they really do clean the anal glandes they just squeez them :) they give them a bath and then cut the hair they look at the pads of there feet ask your vet they can tell you everything you need to know.

If you didn't have a way to wipe yourself you'd want somebody to help get you clean now and then too! Not sure why you'd think the groomer would be making that up.

yeah the get their anal gland cleaned ,they clean their ears and they cut their nails ,polish their paws cut their hair and brush their teeth.
