She's an 8 week old puppy. Not a specific breed. I don't know what her parents where. I have her bowl in my room, on top of some newspaper. She had been drinking politely, but she started pawing at it and taking all the water out. I told her no, and seeing that she didn't stop, i removed the plate and only offered it to her from time to time so she could drink, but holding it and not putting it directly on the floor so she doesn't get a chance to 'dig' in it.
Why is she digging in it? How can i stop her from doing that?
I would like to have her bowl accesible to her all the time, without getting my hardwood floor all wet.

iam looking for a dog that has a lot of manners around the house meaning i dont want it to pee everywhere and i dont want it to bark when everyone is trying to sleep. i also want it to be very friendly and not ferocious at all. i want it to sit by me when iam watching tv, on the computer, studying and etc. ill be working and going to school but i can guarantee him/her a walk or a jog an hour a day, playing with it for a couple of hours or longer and when iam not playing with it ill have it by me when iam in the house. ive done some research and whippets seem to be a good choice. what do u guys think about whippets? do u guys have any other suggestions?

i understand the fact that they have to be trained out of those habits but iam looking for a dog that is really good at that.

My Jack Russel Terrier is a real pain. She eats anything she can get her paws on. We leave the kitchen for one second and she is up on the table eating our food. When we realize she is on the table we come in and yell at her to get down but she just stares at us and keeps eating untill we come over and pull her away. We have tried yelling at her, squirting water at her with a spray bottle, but nothing works. On easter she ate about 2 pounds of chocolate when she escaped her kennel. She has gotten so fat that her tummy bulges.

I have considered hitting her when she does this but i am afraid that i could really hurt her and i don't want to do that. Is there any other way?

Do shock collars for dogs work? I was just wondering are there any alteratives to shock collars. I have called a few personal trainers, and one suggested this to me (collar) I would really hate to use it, but we are getting ready to move to an apartment and my dog has separation aniety and barks when we are gone. He is a pit bull 9 months old and his name is Scrappy. If you have any alteratives then please let me know, you can also e-mail me, my e-mail is in my profile~ Thanks

There are these little "gangster" black kids across my street and they always come over and pick on my dogs. (they think they are super bad but they're only like 10-14 yrs of age) They'll spit at my dogs and try to poke them with sticks! yesterday, I saw one of the kids jump on my fence and was taunting my dogs and then when I came out and I told them not to mess with my dogs, they just said "what are you going to do about it?" I don't know what to do because it seems that their parents don't even care. Is there something I could do to make them stop? It's getting to the point where I just want to break them!

Hi... I have a 4 and a half months old Siberian Husky. I'm feeding her Canidae foods. I thought of using Nature's Recipe food but it was not good for her and she was having diarrhea, so I went back to Canidae.
Actually I was pretty happy with Canidae, it was just that Nature's Recipe was easier to find.
Anyway, I was looking at other foods and I found Timberwolf Organics. I have never used that brand so I dont know how good is it. I read about it and it seems pretty good but I wanted your opinion about which one is better, Canidae or Timberwolf Organics?

I appreciate all your help... =)

I was just wondering if anyone else had a dog that does this and knows what it is. Anywho, this is what my 3 year old pomeranian does. When he gets really excited, he starts to have an "asthma attack" He wheezes uncontrollably for a minute or more. After a while, he's ok and continues what he was doing, but sometimes the attacks last for five minutes. I was wondering if anyone knew the cause, what it's called, and had a dog that does this. Thanks! Please no rude comments!!

According to my vet, corn ingredient in dog food has also benefits for dogs and also wheat and soy. I tried Purina hipro to my choco lab since 8months old until now 1.5yrs old but he did well and it makes him hyper with that 27% protein and 15% fat.

I was told that the best time is about ten days after bleeding starts but my husband tried to take her to the male dog the very next day and then 4 days after that, she won't accept the male yet, all she does is play with him and when he sniffs her she pushes him back or if he tries to mount she will just sit down. Call any one please help me with a few very exact answers. I've taken her to the Vet and had all her test done and she has all her papers and when examined she was announced as an excellent dog to breed. I was planning on spaying her at first but even the Vet said to us that if we decided to breed her it would be the perfect time. I'm planning on keeping 2 of her puppies myself, not to breed on but just as pets for my family and me. Please I really would appreciate any help. Thanks!!

Will this problem solve itself as her lower jaw grows? I worry that the lower canines are coming in, inside of the uppers. The upper jaw is about 1/3rd inch longer than the lower one at this time, and the lower one is also narrower than the upper.

Due to physical limitations, our dog is not able to properly clean herself. She continues to develop skin rashes and infections... I'm looking for suggestions of how to help her skin so she doesn't continue to develop infections. Would baby wipes work? I've been using mild water and a cortizone treatment that we have from other skin issues - but I'm looking for suggestions of something quick and simple to help keep her comfortable.

I had asked a question earlier about giving my dog too much of her meds. If I'm asking a question here, wouldn't you think it was for a reason?
Reason #1 It was 4am. If Devora knows a vet open at 4am, please tell me.
Reason#2 quick answer
Reason#3 more than one response feed back.

Before you are quick to jump down someone's back by saying "take her to a vet", "Call a vet", or anything like that, consider THE TIME ZONE! EVERYONE is NOT on your time zone!!
