Pit bulls are loving by nature, but they are also very strong, which means that if they are bred to cruelty, they can do a lot of damage. And there are folks who won't think twice about turning a potential pet into a potential weapon.

You are correct that people should hate the owner and not the dog, but unfortunately some people tend to fall into the mental trap of thinking of pets as equals (if you've ever called a dog your "baby" or your "furkid", you're at least somewhat guilty as well). And part of what goes along with such an attitude is the feeling that at some point the dog becomes responsible for its own actions, just like eventually children grow up into adults who "know better". Dogs never will "know better" unless re-trained, but those who anthropomorphize pets will never grasp that concept completely.

I've got a red nose pit mix and she's an absolute love! There isn't a mean bone in her.
They've gotten a bad reputation because of the way some people have trained them to fight. It's the people's fault, not the dog's.

I don't hate them... I didn't really know there was such a hate for them? Maybe its because people don't classify them as cute, and because a lot of people who do dog fights use them... So people associate them with viciousness???

Anyway, i own rats... And i don't understand why people hate them, so i guess we are in the same boat in a way... I am waiting on a few of litters of rats... Three pregnant bubbas that i saved from being snake chow...

Most dog lovers don't "hate pits." I've fostered several wonderful APBT mixes.

Many people are simply afraid of pit bulls (vs. hatred). Pit bulls are not the dogs that bite most frequently-- but when they DO bite, they tend to do the most damage.

I own two pits....and I love them both to death. They are literally the most amazing dogs I've ever had the privilege of interacting with. I also agree with punishing the DEED and not the breed.

But....I don't think you should be breeding if you can't successfully spell or punctuate.

Let's not perpetuate the stereotype...

Because people tend to fight them, and somewhere along the lines people began to think they are very mean my nature. When in reality there isn't a bad dog, only a bad owner.

is your website the one on you mspace? if so you really need to update it to say the shows you do and the OFA tests yo do on your dogs. Or maybe you dont do any, then you are just a back yard breeder
