There are these little "gangster" black kids across my street and they always come over and pick on my dogs. (they think they are super bad but they're only like 10-14 yrs of age) They'll spit at my dogs and try to poke them with sticks! yesterday, I saw one of the kids jump on my fence and was taunting my dogs and then when I came out and I told them not to mess with my dogs, they just said "what are you going to do about it?" I don't know what to do because it seems that their parents don't even care. Is there something I could do to make them stop? It's getting to the point where I just want to break them!

first off, i have to hand it to you for your self control. if anyone ever disrespected my dog like that i dont think i would be able to control myself and they would probably get a bullet in the head.
personally if one of these kids with wonderful parents asked me a question like that he would get a serious beating he would never forget.
you need to call the police and let these punks incriminate themselves. the cops probably are going to brush it aside and tell the kids to leave the dogs alone and the kids will come back the next day.
videotape these future malt liquor drinkers doing what they do and then show them to your lawyer or at the very least file a civil complaint
i would make it my personal mission in life to press charges to the full extent of the law and even hire a lawyer to help me sue their families.
the one thing i will say is that if you have little yipper dogs that just stand at the fence and bark all day long its not really helping your problem.

You need to contact the police about this issue, in some states it's illegal to taunt and hurt animals, it's abuse. These kids need to know you mean business and the parents need to get a citation for this problem, because they don't care. If you have to take it to court, do so thru having the police issue a citation to the kids and their parents! These are juvenile kids and need to be put into a home as far as I'm concerned. This behavior might be coming from a bad environment within the home. Make sure you fully document every move they make on your dogs. I'm not a huge dog fan, but this shouldn't be going on, period. Make sure you have your animal on a leash if out in the yard, make sure the dogs are in their pen and a lock on it. If you fence off the top of the pen the kids can't get into cage, just to be safe. Good luck!

It doesn't matter how old they are. They are trespassing, on your property and harassing your dogs, who are properly fenced in your yard and trespassing along is a crime, let alone harassing those poor dogs. If their parents don't care, then they obviously have no control of their own kids. I would call the police and tell them exactly what you told us. Tell them that you want something done about it! They will come out and have a little talk with them. Hopefully that alone will make them stop. Since you have already told the kids to stay away from your dogs and they asked you what you would do about it , tell those kids, that you have already talked to the police, to stay away from your property and your dogs and that if you catch them again, they will have to deal with the police. Maybe that will do the trick!!! Good Luck! Hope this helps!

First off, don't try to do anything on your own because sometimes kids who are "gangster" can be dangerous. Believe me, I have had experience with that.
We had a problem with kids being on our lawn & damaging things before, so we put up a "No Trespassing" sign.
Therefore, those kids can't go onto your lawn unless they want to get in trouble with the police.
Also, if you feel comfortable [or go with an adult], go over and speak with the parents. We talked to the kids parents who were in our lawn, and they made sure their kids did not go into our lawn anymore. If the parents seem like they don't care, leave them out of it.
If after all this, the trouble still goes on, maybe you should talk to the police about what you can do about it.
It may help.

if talking to their parents did nothing i would call the police. although if they really are little gangster kids they probably will try to retaliate that to you as well, like throwing rocks, breaking windows. but if you call the police and have a report made, you will start the paper trail and eventually win over these kids. it jsut might be nerveracking for the time beaing. and keep in mind that jumping your fence is trespassing and if he were to in anyway break a board on the fence or something of the sort that is vandalism. best of luck to you

Okay seriously their race does not matter. Yes you can do something about it. Call the police or even bring your dogs in when you are not outside in attendence with them. If you can video tape them doing what you claim as evidence it would be even better. Have you spoken with their parents? Im a parent and I can tell you this every time my kids are outside (the older ones)I do not watch them as i am sure these parents do not watch theirs like a hawk when they are outside. If talking to the parents doesnt work then call the cops and report it.

Document their actions - take photos/video with date stamp (if possible).
Have you tried to talk with these kids and ask them why they do this? What they hope to accomplish from this?
Have you tried talking to their parents? They may be unaware of their children's activity.
If you have and they do nothing about it then it's time to contact the police. Fill out a complaint with your local police and see what the next available legal step is.
An electric fence like farmers use could be a way to keep them off your fence.

You could tell them to get off your property...if that doesn't work, you could sit in your front porch with a REALLY long knife or something...but if they are actually up on your fence...Have you tried talking to the parents? If that didn't work, call the local police station and ask what else to do. Other than that- maybe put the dog in the other yard?

Teasing or taunting animals is a crime in most states. You can report them to the state SPCA or the local animal control officer. I doubt you will get much action, though. They are underpaid and understaffed and have more serious cases to deal with.
You can remove the dogs from view, which may mean building a fence they can't see through.
You can videotape them doing this and upload it to youtube or your local access channel if it allows that. And send it to the local police and SPCA.

punks nothing but
I am so sorry for your situation but the pa rants of some kids these days most don't care.
I would try to talk to the parents first and if this doesn't work call the police.
Your dogs have the right to live a peaceful life and these jerks are infringing on it.
And if that don't work train your dogs to attack gangster looking people.
