It is hard sometimes to get a dog when they're already full-grown; however, since dogs are considered "puppies" until they're 2, I think a 1-year-old dog will still be very easy to train if need be.

Dachsunds tend to shiver a lot, just like Chihuahuas, because they are so small and have a very fast heart rate. So you shouldn't worry about that.

Just spend the first few days setting up a routine for her. She'll need to learn a bunch of things about her new home, such as where her food and water are located, where she's expected to go potty, and your daily schedule. Don't be surprised or angry if she has a few little accidents in those first days. She's bound to be a little anxious in her new surroundings, so be gentle and patient with her. Best of luck!

When you get your dog, make sure to take them outside to the bathroom every couple of hours. The dog isint going to hold it in to protect your precious carpet.

Also remember that the first few weeks you have your dog you should spend many hours a day training him about the rules of the house, (no climbing on furniture, chewing on shoes,) if you let him have free reign for the first little while he will think that he is in charge and it will be difficult to stop these behaviors.
