We had to put my dog down yesterday, she was suffering from an incurable illness, now my other dog is grieving. They were together 5 years and were best friends. Is there anything I can do to help him? How long should this go on?

I went with my sister today to pick out a dog and it was the worst experience Ive ever had (and she even owns her own house)!
Normally I get my dogs from the county shelter its easy and fast but she wanted to go to a no kill shelter and these people were plain rude!
Especially if you want them to hold the dog 24 hours, its a nightmare! you would think they would want to be nice and accomodating so more people would be more likely to adopt their dogs.

Its almost easier to get a dog from a breeder!

why are people so rude on here. not everyone is a pet expert. if everyone know everything about pets, there would be no vets or vet techs. maybe some people need to stop being so harsh andjust try to be helpfull.

Hello,

I believe my former vet has violated the health code in some manner. I would like to know if they have violated these codes, and where to file a complaint.

The details-
My puppy, at 13 weeks old broke his rear left leg. The questionable visit occurred at 16 weeks when another vetrinarian at the same hospital attempted to check his leg as the other vet was out.

What I experienced-
While administering medicines and treating animals, nobody was wearing gloves, not even the vetrinarian. The only time they wear gloves is apparently when they are taking your animals vitals.

A cat was supposed to be getting it's yearly vaccinations. The cat was agitated, and kicked the syringes onto the floor. The syringes appeared to be returned to the surgery table.

Upon removal of my animal's cast, it was found he had an infection. The cast was reapplied, with a portion cut off so the animal's foot could be exposed and have neosporin applied. Is this appropriate practice?

So, if a cocker spaniel and poodle breed, you have a cockerdoodle. Now, if a cockerdoodle and a cockerdoodle breed, do we no longer need the cocker spaniel and poodle? Or do only cockerdoodles come from the original mix of the two, spaniel and poodle?

We just discovered both our puppies appear to have worms. Is there anything we can do over the weekend to help eliminate the problem, until we can get them to the vet on Monday? What precautions should we take meanwhile so we don't get them? I also read that a lot of puppies are born with them. Is this something the breeder we got them from should have known and informed us about?

Hi, my dog was neutered two weeks ago. Since then he has been even worse behaved (jumping and biting-wise) and, for lack of a better description, his penis keeps coming out. I thought the neutering was supossed to make this better? Why hasn't it?

A few years ago i got a new puppy. He is nice to everyone, and loves to play. Whenever i feed him if anyone is within 20 feet of him he growls and snarls his teeth. He has never gone a day without food, and no one has ever taken food from him. Is there anyway i can get him to stop doing this? Sometimes if i feed him outside i can hear him growling and there isn't even anyone out there.

Hi. My family is adopting a dog now that our last dog has passed. We visited a shelter today and are going back soon. There are a few dogs we are interested in. The first dog in a 10 month old red bone coonhound/ merema (sp?) mix. He weighs 70 pounds and is going to be very big- think great dane big. The other dog is a collie/ shepherd mix and is 4 years old. They are both very sweet. The collie likes to be around people all the time because she has seperation anxiety (and because we have a family of 6) someone is always home. The coonhound loves people but is a bit more independent and loves to run. We have a big yard. We are thinking of adopting them both but we do not know if they will get along. (we think the coonhound may be to agressive), we have many other animals too that they need to get along with, cats, guenia pigs, horses, fish (big pond) and its just a tough decision. Help?

I took my dog to the vet today for boosters and they noticed she had a little patch of hair missing ftom her tail. She asked if Lucy chewed on that area and I have never seen her do that. So she asked if she could test her thyroid...with a blood test and it came back at the lowest end of the normal range. She said we would have to retest in 6 months and if it dips below that magic mark on the scale, she would have to go on meds, twice daily for a month. If you have experience with this, please tell me what you know. We love her dearly, but at the same time, she is a dog. What would an underactive thyroid mean for her? Just curious...please don't judge me about saying she is only a dog. She is overly loved in our home...I just don't want to throw money at the vet if I don't have to.

My Jack Russell has a sbmissive peeing problem... She is fine with me but when my boyfriend comes home she pees everywhere.... How can we fix this?? He has tried ignoring her completely and just leaving her alone... she still pees... Understably upsetting him which I think in turn upsets her more. Any ideas??
