Jessie,

I'm not sure that your pup has this of course, but there's a form of mange that puppies get. It's not the same kind of contagious parasitic mange that you need to look out for though. It's more of a rash that causes hair loss. Mine both got it as puppies, but the spots were never bigger than a nickel or so. There's no germ or parasite associated with this form of mange, and it will go away on it's own with time.

If she's got a big spot, or if it gets worse, or if she chews on it, you need to drop by a vet's office, and have them check it out.
In the meantime, you can get some stuff at the pet store that will taste nasty and make it feel better and she won't be so inclined to try and chew or scratch at it.

good luck
Kevin

Scratch everything I just posted. I thought the dog was 6years. At 6 days, you are almost assured it's demodectic mange. Don't do anything until the puppy is older. The vet can treat the whole litter when they are older. Are these pits?

The other poster suggested a spinal defect like a spina bifida. They look like a water balloon thing or small water balloon blister. Euthanasia is the only alternative for that.

You really should have the vet look at it. Do not go putting anything on a 6 day old puppy without talking to a vet first.

The mange is Demodex, and this does not sound like that at all. Hopefully it is not a birth defect where the covering of the spinal cord is outside the spinal colum.
Please have a vet look at it, it is SOOOO not normal for a puppy that age.

Six days is EARLY for that kind of colonization of mange. 3-6 months is most common. Please get it checked out by a vet ASAP.
