constantly wash your hands, especially when you clean up their pee and poop. do not try to save and just pick up their poop to throw away, whenever they poop throw away the whole training pad and replace with a new one. at the mean time do not let them lick your lips because it can also be transferred if they eat their poop or lick the area. yes, they can be born with worms. when i bought my puppy he had worms but i did not know until i brought him to the vet for an initial check up. all they do is give you a pill and it'll make your puppies poop all the worms out. remember keep a clean area/house and wash your hands frequently (everyone in the family). if the breeder knew he/she should have informed you and shouldn't have sold the puppies to you until they took care of the problem. now, its a bit late since you already purchased the 2 puppies. worms are common so don't fret.

You can get wormer from any petstore. DeWorm is a very good one. I use it for my puppies. SafeGaurd is also very good. If you got a health certificate (which you should have) when you bought your puppies, then they should not have worms. The health cert. is a statement from a vet stating the health of the animal (if it had shots, which ones, if it has worm, etc.) All dogs need to be wormed every so often anyway. Worms are also not that big of a deal (healthwise). They will not die if you wait until monday to go to the vet. PetSmart's vet is open 2 days a week though.

Breeder should have wormed the puppies before they left her house :(
You aren't going to catch the worms.. Wash your hands like you are supposed to anyhow and you'll be fine..
Don't give the dogs anything now, if they will be treated Monday you don't want to give them something now that might work negatively with what the vet will give you.

Puppies inherit a long worm that look like strands of spaghetti form the mother. Worms are easily eliminated with the proper worm medication. Puppies should have had their worm medication started by the breeder. Your pups will be O.K. until Monday when you take them to the vet.

The only worms you'll actually see in the stool are roundworms, which look like spaghetti and tapeworm segments which look like rice. Both are easily treated with OTC medications. For roundworms you need pyrantel pamoate--just follow the directions on the bottle. For tapeworms you need praziquantel. Pet stores carry both of these. You still should have the puppies and stool checked out by the vet asap, as there are other parasites, such as hookworms and coccidia, which are more dangerous and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Tapeworms are spread through eating a flea--don't eat a flea and you won't get them. Roundworms are a big problem especially in children--wash hands well and pick up any stool from the yard and dispose of it. Placing your dog on a monthly heartworm prevention will help with control and transmission to humans.

They tend to get worms from unsanitary conditions and raw meat. Flies lay eggs in the meat, the dog eats the meat and the eggs hatch inside the dog and stay there.
No raw meat. Always 100% cooked. Keep the doghouse clean. Wait till monday and the vet will give you worm pills that will kill the worms.

Humans who get "dog worms" actually end up with a skin lesion. It's not the same as it is with dogs at all. See image--

Hookworms look similar. And it is not common in the West, so you don't have to worry.
As far as the puppies.... just go get some wormer. I prefer using a pyrantel based wormer because the dogs don't barf from it like they do from fenbendazole. A good wormer with pyrantel pamoate is available at any farm supply store. It costs about $5 and is the exact same product that is in Heartguard. Most of the over the counter products are worthless. You have to read labels. You want a product with one of these two active ingredients--
pyrantel paomate
fenbendazole
Find the first one if possible, but settle for the second if you have to. The first one doesn't make the dog vomit as easily. The second one has the advantage of also killing tapeworms. And the CVT is wrong. You do see hookworms in the stool. They look like long thin strands of spaghetti about 2-3 inches long. Tapeworms are small, fat nasty looking things like huge grains of rice. Roundworms look a bit like hookworms but are fatter and longer.

Confine them in the kitchen somehow with a fence maybe. Also, you might want to save a sample with the worm in it to show to the vet. My vet made me do this. We had to put it in a baggie in the fridge to keep it fresh until seeing the vet. Yes, the breeder should have known and done something about it.
