Most info I've found is on teaching your dog how not to pull you.

My problems is that after my 12 wk old puppy goes potty or poop she just wants to stop and won't move anymore. She likes to pick up pieces of grass or rocks. She poops in some high brush most of the time and she likes to just go thru there and bite the weeds and lay down in there. I've tried taking her for walks and she just won't cooperate. I've only had her for three and a half weeks and she's learning other things fairly quickly.

Thanks for any help!

I am looking for a dog, any breed in any of the following groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, Misc Class, that best fits the following classifications;

-Alert watchdog or guard dog; protective (tell me how does it react to a strange; does it threatens, or just bark?)
-Reliable companion for both owner and family (why? what traits confirm this?)

I'm more in favor of large dogs similar to wolves, such as the Alaskan Malamute, and the other small toy dogs like the Pomeranian. Although these may or may not fit the catergories above, I think the American Eskimo is best? Confirm that please.

I was just called by christina's court (court tv) and informed that I'm being sued. The short end of a long story is this...
1. I was lead to believe unaltered dogs who don't have puppies will get breast cancer
2. I called several breeders and found someone willing to provide stud service
3. she told me she used horse de-wormer on her dogs and I had extra since I now de-worm my horses naturally
4. I'd never heard of horse de-wormer used on dogs and wasn't sure how she could determine the dosage, but I gave her what I had left and thought nothing more of it since she'd used it before.
5. She killed one of her dogs and made two others, a male and a pregnant female, sick with the de-wormer and got $3000 in vet bills
6. My dog had four puppies and she was allowed to chose pick of the litter
7. I realized she's a chain smoking, hobby breeder with a completely obese family and no sence of taking care of children let alone dogs and I freaked out about giving her a puppy

Is it okay to feed my puppy raw chicken drumsticks. She is a rottweiler, 8 months old. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I heard, cooked is more brittle, but raw is more flexible. Thanks in advance.

i've had my dog for six months and i l love him very much. He was given to us by friends who could no longer keep him. They had him for a few months before they gave him to me- he was given to them by a removed family member (i'm not sure of their relationship) who was my dog's original owner. They installed a chip in my dog and their information is on it. i do not know them and i have no direct contact with them. i have asked my friends repeatedly to get the information from this person, but he is supposedly blowing them off. i desperately don't want something to happen to my dog and have whoever finds him contact this person i don't know who doesn't want him and clearly doesn't have their *!@$ together. The also originally got him all his shots, but i have no proof- they have all the paperwork (they have told my friends they have it somewhere). How am i supposed to take my dog to get the information on the chip changed? Won't they suspect that i stole the dog?

I have read about two totally opposite ways to deal with fear aggression. I am curious what people think is the best solution.
I have a 7month old Shepherd/lab mix who we found 2.5 months ago wandering the streets. She is in good health and is now spayed. She was obviously mistreated because she has an unnatural fear of strangers. When we go on walks or to Petsmart she barks and growls when people try to approach her. She is totally docile inside with her own family (includes a 5 yr old and a cat).
Is it better to give her lots of positive attention when in these situations (so she associates strangers with good things) or give her the "no bark and/or sit" command so she knows that this behavior is not acceptable.
I just don't want her to think that it is OK to act this way towards people.
So which way should I go, positive or negative reaction when she acts this way.??
Also any other advice/websites/books would be great.
Thanks.

A couple of days ago, it was really warm up here, so I brought my Austrailian Sheperd Lab mix inside my house where it was cooler. Later that night, I came home from band practice, and I was putting him back into his outside inclosure, and he attacked me. I struggled with him for about 10 minutes, trying to put him in the cage. It was strange for him, because he's never acted like that. I didn't want to let him go because he was acting so strange and I was afraid of what he would do if I did let him go and run through the neighborhood. I finally just let him go, and he bolted back to my house door and went back inside with me. By this time, I was dripping blood from my arm and nose.

I didn't get any serious injuries, but I don't understand why he suddenly decided to attack me. Does anyone have any idea why this could have happened? I've also been afraid to go near him again, so my mom's been taking care of him with no problem. Should I try going near him again?

I adopted my dog from a shelter nearby about 4 years ago.
I was not informed he gets seizures, so I have put up with that and have lessened the occurences by watching what he eats.
I also believe that anxiety brings them on, such as if I leave him for a day or two.
I found I cannot leave him at home anymore because he would be alone and I am a prisoner to my own home because of this.
He is a large husky/collie of about 150 pounds. I made a kennel where he can also go into the garage but he now goes over the top of the kennel and gets loose. If he is locked into the garage, he literally uses his claws to claw his way into the house through a wood-paneled door. He is a house dog and feels he needs to be in the house, I guess. But, I live on a highway and it's very dangerous for him and others when he darts across the highway.
I'm now 59 and I want to be able to start some traveling next year. I don't have anyone to leave him with and don't want him by himself.
What do you think?

I need to know which kind of Golden Retriever is the one that keeps a stylish, young-looking face even until it grows old. Because there is one type of Golden Retriever that has more of falling face, and drools a bit; specially as they grow older. OK, I need to know which type is the first one. It's also normally very light gold colour shade and it doesn't drool as much as the other one. Thanks

I have some questions for all the people who recommend this site.

I do not understand how it is a good site.

Who has rated these dog foods and what qualifications do they have to do so? Animal Nutritionist? Vet? Who?

I really don't understand how they can have a site like that with no references. Who are these editors and why are they knowledgeable enough about dog food to rate it?

Not trying to stir up trouble- just want to understand.

My boxer is 2 years old now. Ive had him since he was probably 8 weeks old. (pet store not a breeder) He's ALWAYS been shy/nervous exspeshally with MEN, and loud noises.
Ive tryed everything. I walk him all the time in busy areas, took him to dog parks (which he LOVED), if he would get nervous and try and run cause a motorbike went by for example i would correct his behavour make him sit and stay there till he calmed down.
Ive bought a boxer magazine and they said that this is known to happen to this breed when not socialzed enough as a puppy. The thing is he's been like this since i had him. ALWAYS nervous with men.
So what can i do now? It's annoying and i would love for anyone just to be able to pat my dog. My concern is that he's going to try and defend himself one day when ppl dont listen to me when i say he's nervous.
I was told a PERSONAL one on one trainer would help but they should specialize in my breed. Where boxers have different behavours in general.

I have a 9 month old 6 pound yorkie. I've moved home with my parents for a few months while my husband finishes his tour in Germany. They have a huge German Shepard next door that has fleas bad!! Now my little dog has fleas and has brought them in the house. We have professionally sprayed our yard and the neighbor's yard and our house from top to bottom - repeatedly! My dog is on Frontline Plus and I have the Frontline spray to put on him. We are dusting the carpets everyday and washing the bedding like mad! I have a flea comb and are still pulling them off of my dog, probably 6-8 at a time.

I just bought some Paramite from my vet but havent used it yet. I am kinda afraid, the vet made it sound awful for the dog. Have any of you used it?

What else can i do?? My vet told me not to give my dog garlic powder. My vet where we used to live had these pills that worked like a charm, but this vet does not.

How do I get these little monsters out of my house!!!?!?!?!
