i have found out that they can be born deaf and that the cause is lack of pigment in the ear canal or inner ear, my question is - is this passed down to the pup from either of the parents ??

Just wondering if theres some kind of chemical or musk dogs produce when they get scared or startled. I am taking her to the vet Thursday so its something I will ask then, but just wondering if anyone has heard of this at all.

I just got a new puppy home on Friday, mine and my wife's first. We are having potty trouble with him. He doesn't want to go on the paper in the house. He goes fine outside, and my wife and I throw him a small party each time he does outside. But we are not home some of the day, and want to teach him to use a wee wee pad. I'm from the old school, I'd shove his face in it to teach him, but from reasearch, I hear that's no good. He has a crate, but its not that big and I wouldn't want his coat to be sh!tty.
Please any suggesttions.....

Eagle Pack Holistic, Canidae (esp this one), Innova & Solid Gold

I can't seem to find a photo online other than the outside bags >_<

My chihuahua won't chew big stuff

The only hard foods she's eaten are meow mix and some dog food the lady we bought her from gave us that was about the size of cat food nuggets

we even have to cut up ceasers wet food for her
One food she never turns down, & chicken

she has bad teath
I brush them
and we get them cleaned professionally
(how often should I do this anyway?)

but she still has problems
the vet/s recommended dry food
and chewbones
so I'm trying to find a healthy dry food
(my last dog had horrible allergies and heart issues due to bad dog foods)
and I bought one of those flavored nylabones (is that healthy?) but she doesn't chew on it often at all

any ideas to help her teeth?

She paws at her mouth, chews on her legs (which I stop), and chews on the corners of her blanket or soft toys.

Also she has bad tarter.

He is about 4 months old. Is this too young? Also, I don't think his testicles have dropped yet. Ho long until they will? or, I have been told that there could be additional fees for such a situation, anyone know HOW MUCH extra it might cost? I am calling the vet tomorrow and I can ask then, but I was just wondering...

My family and I are looking into fostering, but we aren't sure what breeds to do. I think we have it narrowed down between a beagle and an Aussie (though, other suggestions would be great.) Heres some information on our living style:

There are two kids in the house; 12 and 14. We also have a dog, a 9 year old Cockapoo who gets along with any breed. =]
Momma goes to a summer college class (10 am - 3 pm) while daddy works from 4 am - noon. The teenage daughter (14) occassionally babysits but is only gone for 3 hours at a time. 12 year old son is usually home; so the dog wouldn't ever really be all alone. We've got a 3600 square foot house and a 1/8 acre backyard with a swimming pool and grass. There is also a 7 foot brick fence surrounding it. Because we live in Arizona, the heat is something to consider... especially since its summer. A dog that doesn't mind water would also help.

So; all this info. Which breed is for us?

Best Answer will be chosen on thoroughness. =] Thanks!

My Eskimo Spitz gave birth last Sunday, to 9 puppies.. unfortunately she cant produce milk for them.We took her to the vet and they gave her a shot to bring down the milk but it didnt work..we have to feed them puppy formula. The cost is 4.97 and thats only 6 oz. they drink one carton a day, as they get bigger they drink more. The vet told me I need to continue feeding them til they are 5 to 6 weeks old. I am disabled and am having a hard time purchasing the formula. We are giving the puppies away after they are weaned to good homes only. If anyone has any puppy formula or can donate to help feed the puppies it would be greatly appreciated. If you'd like to see more pics let me know.

Do you think he might be purebred pug, or at least mostly pug? Or do you think he has something else in him? I think he looks alot like a Carlin Pinscher(Miniature Pinscher/Pug) but I don't know, what do you think?

My local feed store sold me amoxi tabs, 250MG.
I am using them for my dog. However i read on the bottle (they bottled them like you would get from a vet) but it says in TINY print. 1 cap per 10gals of water. Aqaurium use. He gave them to me for my dog. Is that safe or is it the same thing?

Hi,
I got a yellow lab puppy a few weeks ago. He was 8 weeks old and when he came home, i bought him puppy chow and maximum nutrition. He refused to eat these. I tried giving them as is, with water, with milk, with gruber's baby food (this worked really well for a day but then he just started licking the babyfood off and leaving his puppy chow).
So concerned that he wasnt eating, i read that it is always good to just feed them boiled chicken and boiled rice. i tried this and it worked like a charm. he usually eats less rice, but he loves his chicken.
Anyway, now hes getting big and eating a lot of chicken and it is unfortunately putting a whole in my pocket, plus ill be busy very soon and would not have time in the afternoon to cook for him.
I would like to get him into some sort of processed food. Ive read people suggest mixing a new food with his current food. But I think its not going o work as he leaves his rice sometimes as it. Suggestions?
Also, what food do you suggest? thx

I have a beautiful family dog with nice light brown eyes, that wags its tail alot. He is a very happy playful family dog. I sometimes wonder, do certain pet animals such as dogs and cats see in color OR black and white?

I adopted a Black Lab (Diego) yesterday. He is 2 y/o, and neutered. Every time he sniffs my Maltese (Tramp) in her privates, he whines like he is in pain or just very sad. Tramp is 8 months old, and is unaltered. I also have a 3 y/o Siberian husky (Lady) who is spayed. When Diego sniffs Lady, he doesn't whine at all. Does anyone know why he does this? This is my first male dog, so I don't know if this is a normal thing. Please, serious answers only. Thanks.

Please help! My adult (10 year old) dog is pooping/peeing upstairs in secret. He has never had this habit in the year that we have owned him. What could be causing him to do this and how can I break this growing habit other than sticking him outside? He has access to the backyard through 24/7 doggie doors. Any help would be great!!

The vet said her ears smelled yeasty and suggested that we buy an ear cleaning product from the pet store. But these things are pricey and I would like a home remedy if anyone has one and how do I clean them? I don't want to hurt her.

We feed her kibbles and chunks. We used to have two dogs and it was economical to buy them a big bag from Sam's club. But now there's only her and the vet says she needs to lose weight. Can anyone recommend a good dog food for her?
