I have a blue heeler and she is on her first women cycle ;-) I really dont like to keep her outside but she makes the house messy so I was just wondering when it will stop she has been on it for like 6 days now.

I have a very small 10yr old yorkshire terrier with a persistant hacking cough. At first I thought it may be kennel cough from an unknown source but to my knowledge he has not knowingly been in contact with this and my other dog has not developed any symptoms. He is fine in every other way, sleeping on my bed and ok through the night, he is playing, eating and drinking as usual and barking too. Sometimes the cough will start up with too much excitement or without any reason, there is no real pattern. This cough started almost two weeks ago now and it is not really improving. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow so will find out the problem then but has anybody got any ideas what may be causing his symptoms? I am not bothered about the expense but I dont like my dogs being given medication for the sake of it and without good reason.

My dog went to the vet. He is a bichon. They said that he is very very sick. Here is what they said:
-He has white gums which means he is pale
-he lost 2 lbs.
-His stomach is swollen
-He is very thin
-His spine is very defined

What could be wrong? We are waiting for the results. He is 7 years old. Please, i am so scared!

We never really found out why she died. She started to do blue poo in the garden which looked somewhat seedy. She died the night before her vets appointment. Has anyone else heard of this happening? If so what could it have been that caused it?

I have a small Chihuahua dog. He stays in the house at night but when I have to go to work he goes outside since he does not have the potty training down. It has been really hot and I just want to make sure that I am treat my dog the right way. He goes out in my patio, he has a dog house that is made of wood, I also leave him lots of water with ice. I need to know if there is something else that I need to do so that he can be comfortable outside in the heat while mama is out working. He is only outside from like 9am to like maybe 5pm.

right...im having my dog neutered on thursday cause 1 he needs it done anyway and 2 hes only got 1 testical...the other 1 is there its just not where its supposed to be...anyway i was wondering when he is neutered will he still try and mate with other dogs ?some people keep saying to me oh hes just telling him hes bigger and all that ! but it really annoys me coz i know when hes dominating and when hes trying to mate! ive had him since he was 8weeks. there was a lab in the park today and my dog would not leave it alone...so i said to the owner has your dog been neutered and he said yeah...then i new that my dog couldnt tell the differance between it being a male and a *****...apparently when a dogs been neutered they give more scent off then a ***** ?! is this true ?? hes 1years old by the way...i know ive left it to late to get him done...but i wasnt going to...but now its to dangerous cause of the other testical...so when hes been nuetered will he still have that feeling in him ?

My mom is 60 and her Akita just passed away. He was a friendly dog fiercly loyal to my mother and a great protector. I felt more secure knowing she was living alone with him. So any suggestions on a breed type that is at once friendly and loyal, but also a big dog and protective? Thanks! Also, I usually get my dogs from shelters. Any advice about that?

My 10-yr old springer spaniel just started digging/chewing at the carpet yesterday in my rented house. It's right along an edge where it meets a tile floor and it very noticeable. Obviously, this isn't a good thing. Any suggestions how to stop this behavior? He did this once before, in another rental about 3 years ago. He stopped when we moved. I'm not going to be moving again anytime soon, I don't want to have to recarpet someone else's house. It happens during the day when everyone is at work. Thanks!

I have a dog named Cocoa and she's about 15 years old. She's deaf, blind in one eye, and has the heart of a puppy. My parents told me recently that her other eye is starting to look like my former dog's eye, Lady, who had cancer and we had to put down.

My parents said that if this is the case and she has the same thing then we will have to put her down. I really love Cocoa and have known her all my life. I'm not ready to lose her but I don't want her to suffer. Please, if there's any helpful advice you can give me I would love to hear it.

My husband and I just rescued 2 puggles last week (male & female). We are having issues with accidents in the house, learning commands and eating. I switched them to Nutro lamb & rice but neither is wanting to eat much and we are STILL having lots of accidents in the house. We take them out after eating, play, walk, love etc but for some reason they are still going in the house! My new carpet is ruined (I'm ok with that) but we are really struggling. Also the previous owners breed her and she had her first litter of pup at approx 10 months - will her milk teets ever go down now? I don't want to train with treats if they refuse to eat, I don't know of a good product to use to clean the carpets and how can I get them to eat & go. I give them 20 min. per meal and food goes up & they go outside. It seem they are more interested in sights, sounds, smells etc. Any advice on raising 2 lovable but VERY unpolished puggles?
