before I hear from the "spay and neuter" police, both dogs have already had genetic tests, vet checked, they are both healthy, and we already have buyers for the pups, if we ever get them. So, please don't lecture me on breeding. Serious answers would greatly be appreciated. My female is in the 12 day of her heat, when the male is around, he is sniffing her behind, she is flagging her tail and standing, but he cannot seem to mount her and penetrate. The owner picked him up this morning and is bringing him back Thursday because all the fireworks are scaring them. My question is, is it normal for it to take so many tries from the male? I am worried that my female is too small, but the vet said she would be ok with him, she is 11 and half lbs and he is about18 lbs. Is he too big? The owner of the male seemed a little frustrated this morning, she expected him to have done his business and doesn't understand why he is having problems, as he is a proven stud. Does anyone have any advise?

You have all heard someone say, "We should breed for the betterment of the breed." Now how do you measure your success in this? Here is another ?. For you who have bred 8, 9, 10, or more generations are your last generations better then say your third?

Maybe this is a dumb ?, but I would like to hear some thing on this. Thanks

Hi there all - this morning I came across a starving pit bull puppy (you can see all of her ribs). I talked to the owners and they said they would like for me to take her - which I did. She needs medical care for open sores etc. I would have taken her to the humane society but shelters in this area have a strict "kill" policy when it comes to pit bulls. So thats not an option.

Can any of you guys help me find a pit bull rescue group in the 248/734 or 313 area codes? I've been looking and not having any luck. I know there are a bunch of animal lovers on here so I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks

I have a 4 month old, vet guessed age because the puppy was found at the side of a road, and she is afraid of steps. We have 2 steps to go outside. She will go up and down those. She will not even try the staircase. It looks like she doesn't know what to do with her back feet. She will lift one leg up and keep it up. Should I train her to go up and down the stairs or just let it go?She is a border collie/black lab mix.

We have a glass backdoor and I let the dogs out to play in the backyard. Bella, a german shepherd mix, has begun whining to go outside, and as soon as I let her out, she's bolting the door, jumping sometimes 6 feet in the air in an attempt to get back in. I'm scared she's going to break the door and herself in the process. A stern no doesn't work, and I've tried pulling out her blanket/toys in her kennel and putting her in there alone for 10-15 minutes, but it's not working.
She was a rescue dog who was beaten before I got her, so I will not hit her under ANY circumstances.
How can I fix this?

We just recently moved from a cold, dry state to a humid, hot state. I have been told that she has what is commonly called a hot spot. I have given her baths and put bag balm on the spot, she is not itching it any more however it has gotten a little more swollen. I have looked on the net to find information on hot spots and all I have found is saying to give them baths regularly (which I have done every two days) Any other suggestions would be wonderful?!

I'm having my 50 lb lab spayed tomorrow and the vet wants her brought in on a leash. But she's scared to death of her leash. She yanks, yikes, rolls, and eventually starts gagging or coughing and I take it off. I've tried just letting her keep it on and walk around with it by herself. She's fine with that until I pick up the other end. Then she's crazy again. I know I've waited a little late to ask for help, but I'd appreciate any tips you could give me.

My baby is a beagle/dachshund mix- short hair. We're outside a lot so he gets a little smelly- he doesn't LOOK dirty but I like it better when he smells good. Can this hurt his coat?

Also when I got him he had dandruff and since I started bathing him it has gone away- a sign that it's okay every other week?

I don't want a show dog I want a working dog and I just noticed that there are so many rules to showing your dogs are they similar for working competitions. I don't want to breed and even if I did I would want to wait until I already had lots of experience in with competition dogs and was in a financial postion that would be way down the line. So there would be no reason for me not to have my dog spayed or neutered.

Can anyone please help?
Looking for a Cocker Spaniel puppy (female) for months now.
Haven't got £600-700 for an established breeders puppies (even though they are well worth it) but am tired of going to see dodgy people who are obviously puppy farming.
Can anyone please help and recommend anyone they know who is selling pups please?
Dont have to be Crufts champions or anything, or even from breeders. A loving family who have bred from their ***** would be fine. Am willing to pay the right price .
Hope someone can help!
Thank you :)
p.s Have reported dodgy people to RSPCA so dont worry.

If someone came up and greeted your dog by holding out his hand then petting without asking permission to do so. Also do you always ask permission before greeting a dog?
