He is 75lbs, its a kennel at home, I can't board him somewhere, He NEVER gets left in his kennel the only reason for tonight is that I have to help out family and they are jerks about him coming! I hate the fact that I have to leave him, I dont have any other choice.

Oh and for the first reply, when he isnt in his kennel, if he is left out, he does major damage because he has seperation anxiety, so for HIS safety and the safety of our belongings him being in a kennel is whats best for him!

We are talking about a 75# dog ~ not small
Needs excercise and something to keep him/her busy
the 4th is very anxiety ridden holiday for dogs
and need someone near them they can trust or keep them occupied
i dont recommend the crate only because you've already
said he/she has anxiety issues
this should have been planned in advance better with friends/kennel/sedatives.... and lastly i'd just not go because my animals are my children and their well being is priority.
Best of luck ~

When I have my daughters dog who is an inside pet and I am going somewhere that I can't have her I leave her in a crate so she doesn't get into things and make a mess. I never leave her in there for to long. Also when I had my beagle in the house I put him in a room and was only gone for an hour and he ripped my carpet apart. He now stays out side with my 3 other dogs. Your dog will be o.k. in the crate as long as you are not gone more than a day.

He will be fine for 6 hours or so. As long as he has water and toys, he'll feel safe in his cage. If you really mean kennel, they he should be fine for the whole day, as long as he has shade. I believe in dogs having their cage for security, gives them their own safe place in the house. An outdoor kennel is something different. Mine are in the kennel all day but it's big and they play and amuse themselves and I go in and play with them. Mine do come in the house at night or when I want company during the day...but I also have two so they keep each other busy....lol

Normally I don't agree with owners putting there animals in a cage and it is a cage, kennels are alot more roomy. If you are going to be away from home and family members are at home. Why don't you leave him in your room and close the door.Let your family know that he's rooming your room and not open your bedroom door.Close your blinds, leave your t.v on if you have one or a radio. If all else fails, last thing is the cage, especially for the 4 of july.Dogs go crazy. Next year you should prepare yourself and your dog by getting some tranquilizers or sedatives at the vets so he can be calm.

You can leave him 4-6 hours. If he pees too much in the cage, then give him ice cubes instead. Make sure he has his bed, 1-3 toys, and sometimes a kong. You can buy these at petco, or any other pet stores. Stuff it with peanut butter, and then freeze it. Best of luck!

At vet clinics and boarding kennels they are left in the cages all day and night other than the trips outside walking. So if you leave him in there all day, as long as he has water (and food if you are going to be gone for a while) then he'll be fine. He'll just have to go excersizing(sp.) to let off the excess energy he'll have stored up from being in there.

As long as you walk him daily, he has food, water, a place to sleep, and is comfortable, he should be fine. I do stress, though, that whenever you can, let your dog enjoy life outside the kennel under supervision.

No longer than a few hours. You'll get a variety of opinions but I wouldn't confine a dog to a crate for longer than 3 hours.

Please don't leave your dog all alone in a kennel! Get a friend to take it, or have it boarded. What if he knocked his water over, or someone stole him? You just never know...You need to be responsible!!
