We never really found out why she died. She started to do blue poo in the garden which looked somewhat seedy. She died the night before her vets appointment. Has anyone else heard of this happening? If so what could it have been that caused it?

Are slug pellets strong enough to kill a dog? My dad thinks not. It may have been some other poison like rat poison. We don't use pesticides so whatever it is, it isn't in our garden.

Wouldn't really like to say what happened. Only a vet could give you that answer..Sorry you lost your dog though...

BLUE poo? With seeds? Poo is only ever this weird colour if the dog has eaten something very strange - it sounds very much like your dog was poisoned, perhaps by a flower if there were seeds in it. However the seeds may have been unrelated to the colour - any chance there was rat or slug poison about? This is sometimes blue pellets, although there would've been signs of internal bleeding if this was the case.

I would give a vet a call, they'd have wider experience in these matters - on Yahoo you might just have a bunch weird guesses that make you wonder more than ever.

I know its very sad when a loved pet dies, but when I have had a pet die in unusual circumstances, although I did not really want to do it, I did need to know the cause of death so it possibly could not happen in the future, so I always took the body to the vet for a post mortem. I owuld never leave a body there to be disposed of however, and always brought them home to be buried properly. Did you not ask your vet at the time though. I know it's too late now, but it does sound like some sort of poisoning, but again, you don't give any indication as to age or any other symptoms.

Could she have eaten slug pellets or other poisons used in the garden?

I'm sorry, it sounds like poisoning from slug pellets. They are generally blue. Especially if she showed any signs of fitting before she died, it's lethal stuff.

I agree with the slug pellets theory. Do you use them in your garden?
