I would bet your pup has canine Rickets. Rickets is a disease found in young, growing animals -- which fits your Doberman's situation.

The most common causes are dietary insufficiencies of phosphorus or vitamin D. Calcium deficiencies can also cause rickets, and while this rarely occurs naturally, poor balanced diets that are deficient in calcium have been said to cause the disease.

The result is the cartilage that forms a young animals skeleton does not calcify properly, the bone does not become rigid and it does not develop normally in response to external forces. Eventually weight bearing and movement causes bending deformities of the bones.

If the condition is detected and treated before the bones have finished growing (generally before 6 months of age in dogs) the deformity may be corrected during the remaining growth phase. However, if the bones have already stopped growing (after 9 months of age) any deformity can only be corrected by surgery.

Correction of the diet is the primary treatment. The prognosis is good in the absence of any bone fractures or irreversible damage. Your veterinarian can likely recommend the most appropriate food for your dog.

The dog probably has rickets from eating a vegetarian diet.Dogs are not vegetarians. They need a balance of meat, fat, bone,a bit of grain and a bit of vegetables. You need to put your pup on a good ,meat -based,complete and balanced dog food right away, and take him to the vet.The legs may need to be splinted to straighten them,or a better diet may be all he needs.Only a vet can tell you for sure.

I dont know the answer to this, but you shouldnt have put your dog on a veg. diet, expecially not while developing. Dogs are not vegetarians, they are carnivores. There are alot of nutrients in meat that dogs need.. they cannot get everything they need from vegetables. She probably missed out on some crucial nutrients while growing and developing.

Your doberman has a bone defect. I don't know why you have got him? You should be feeding him meat and bone meal. He might have the canine version of Rickets. But you need to get him checked by a vet. Please don't leave it.

You should bring him to a vet for check-up as soon as possible when you saw your dog having this condition.
Sorry if this does not helps.
