Yes, breeding dogs is wrong. For every person in the united states, there are 15 dogs, about 14 of which are homeless. If every person who owned at least one dog spayed or neutered it, there would still be enough dogs and puppies to go around, borderline being too many. There are so many homeless dogs and cats without homes that 800 of them die every hour from being euthanized, or are left to die on the street. If we domesticated dogs, we should not be so irresponsible as to let 14/15 of them go without a human. Many of the desperate dogs out there would make the world's best pet, if only given the chance. HAVE A HEART, BE SMART AND MAKE SURE YOUR PET IS SPAYED OR NEUTERED

I do not think breeding is wrong but I think people should know what they are doing before they breed. They should research their breed and in order to breed a dog all health and genetic test should be done. If problems are discovered the dog should not be bred and should be altered so the problems will not be passed on. I also believe that if you are going to produce puppies, you have to be responsible for all the pups produced by you. This means that if any of the dogs produced by you ever are unwanted for whatever reason, you will take them back and either keep them or find a home for that dog. It should not be the responsibility of a shelter or rescue group.
I do not think all dogs should be spayed ot neutered, it is a personal decision. Some people do not do it for dog sport reasons or just do not believe it is healthier but if you do not want puppies then you should be responsible enough to prevent unwanted litters.

It depends on the breeding program. i am against back yarders and mills however good, established and well governed breeding programs is only going to better the breed that the breeder is focusing on.
I believe in the long run, that if there was some way to prevent pet store pet sales (hence pulling the plug on alot of mills and byb) and allowing only purchase from governed breeders eventually the number of stray or unwanted dogs could very well decrease...........this theory would only work after long term implimentation, but basically it will allow breeders and shelters only to provide animals, and weed out the bad owners from the good.
I do also believe that no one but a breeder has any business owning an animal that has not be spayed or neutered that rule i do even apply to myself and my animals. I am not a breeder so all animals at a young age have been altered.

I don't have a problem with professional breeders that take good care of their animals and actually have some common sense. My problem are when people get on-line and say my male dog is in heat - anyone have a dog to breed with him.
That was probably the dumbest thing I'd ever seen.
Personally, I will never breed my dogs because I know there are too many homeless animals out there. However, you can't spay/neuter every dog because eventually they'd be extint - very sad. : (

No. If all dogs were fixed then they would eventually die off. However people need to be responsible. There are a lot of homeless dogs and spaying and neutering is essential to control the population, but we want to control the population not kill it off. My pets are all fixed and I am a supporter of spaying and neutering. There is no reason not to fix your dog if you are not a breeder. But as a dog lover, I want the species to continue to exist. Responsible breeding is necessary.

Well, if ALL dogs were neutered in 15 years there wouldn't be a dog left on the planet. I would suppose if you are a PETA/HSUS freak that sounds good, but the rest of the worlds population probably disagrees.

"The only dogs that should be bred are the ones that compete in the show ring"
I would think that is a rather narrow criteria, what about dogs that compete in performance events?,,, how about working dogs? Personally I can think of quite a few dogs that should be bred that have never seen a show ring.

I don't believe that every dog should be spayed or neutered because eventually the species would die out. However, the vast majority of dogs should be fixed. Breeding should be left to responsible and experienced breeders who know what is best for the moms and the puppies.

NO. If U have a pure breed. A dog that is strictly a family pet should be spayed or neutered. Much easier to care for & U do not have to find dozens of homes for puppies.

Only the best examples of any breed should be bred. I have no issues with responsible breeders, it's when breeding is done wrong (when people just throw together two random dogs) or to follow some fad (as the case is with all these designer "breeds") that I have a problem with.

I don't think all dogs should be spayed or neutered. But most people are just too lazy and don't care enough to get them fixed. Only purebred dogs should be allowed to breed in my opinion. No cockapoos or labradoodles or any of that stuff. There are way too many animals being euthanized each year because people won't spend any money to get them fixed. I feel that the majority of dogs should be spayed unless they are going to be show dogs or purebred pets. Even though there a millions of loving mixed breeds out there, there are still millions more dying in pounds because there aren't enough homes.
