My dog has what look like black scabs on his body. They are not on his belly or legs. Just on his head, ears & back. He does have allergies & I was giving him an antihistimine & steroid but ran out & never had it refilled so he went about 3 weeks without it. I recently started giving him Benedryl again. Took him to the vet but vet has no clue what it is so prescribed him a 500 mg cephalexin (steroid) 3x per day & told to increase the mg of Benydryl & watch him. Vet said steroid may make it heal slower, but should help any discomfort. She said nothing about mange & I've seen pictures of this and it doesn't look like mange. He doesn't have fleas either. Could the allergies cause the skin to get sores & scab? She also said to bathe him in the medicated shampoo we have.

recently had a dog which was a Cocker Spaniel and he had very long hair. Now I begged my parents to get him shaved because it was so hot here, but they said not right now. I told them what could happen and that the dog is over heating and they said to not worry and we'll deal with it later. Last Thursday, my dog passed away of Heatstroke
The same reason i begged them to shave him for
and now I am so mad at my parents. They are in disbelief and I don't know if I will ever forgive them. I don't know what to say to them

We live in a rural suburb of 300 people. There are probably 75 beagles here, 10 goldens, 10+ labs and a few other breeds and mixes, 1 poodle, 10 chihuahuas, a doxie, and a few other dogs here and there. It's farm/hunting country, so most dogs are beagles. My neighbor has 5 Goldens she breeds and takes to nursing homes, schools, fairs, etc. They are nice dogs, that have never shown any aggression that I have heard of. Today, two of them jumped the fence and chased a teen. He was walking with a couple of beagles. He ended up being bitten on the arm twice. Animal control took the male dog and said they will destroy it, and she can't get it back because it is vicious. She did get to keep the female because she didn't get accused of the bites. I cannot believe these dogs would attack. Have any of you ever heard of a golden biting? Or is my suspicion that the kid caused it correct? Can animal control do that even if the dogs had shots? It's a pity because they are nice dogs.

Our Malti-poo is 14 years old and can barely move enough to eat. We don't want to put her down. We just want her to go while she's home with her family. She doesn't seem to be in pain, just lies down and looks up at us. She can eat soft food and drinks her water, but has lost control of her bladder. I want to know the best things to feed her and the best way to take of her in her final days. I hate just watching her like this, but I want her to know she's being loved and taken care of. Help...??

Need advice on best way to train and Quick Please !!!
Also if you know of the cheapest way to treat her ( Demodectic Mange)(demodicosis) if anyone has heard of this.
Instead of going to the Vet all the time.
I really do not want to let her go because I can't afford to take care of her. We have grown attached!
I thought I Ask Too! All information helps. The best way to treat her and train her!

I have two pomeranian puppies that are 12 weeks old. I was wondering if it would be okay if I gave them a bath. I dont have any dog shampoo either, so would it be okay if I used pantene? If not then I can just go to a pet store and buy one, but they were rolling around in their pee so their all dirty.
Thanks.

She is crate trained, and will still potty in the house without whining or going to the door. We always take her out the same door, and she goes outside every time we take her out, which is frequently, but when she has free time, in a ated area, she will just go without letting us know she has to.

This might be a stupid question.. sorry. Is it just because some have more money to afford to keep all the dogs? I would think more people would bring animals to the no-kill, which would cause over-crowding. There is a no-kill animal shelter here in Austin where I live and I think it's a really wonderful concept.

My dog was recently put down because of several problems that she had. Regardless that she's now gone, I'd like to figure out what she had.

What underlying cause could give a dog diabetes and anemia, both? At first we only thought it was diabetes, but then when we found out she had anemia, there was nothing we could do because they couldn't find the cause. Please, if any of you know, please provide the answer and a link to any information about it.

Thank you~<3

She was obviously rough housing with the other dogs. She has a cut i'm not sure where exactly it's bleeding. I flushed her eye out with water...but should I take her to a vet to get something to help prevent an infection? Or should she be ok? She's in discomfort, but she is not yelping from pain. Her eye was completely filled with blood.
