I would look in your local newspaper. I live in MN and there were a couple potentials in the Twin Cities newspaper. We ended up using puppyfind.com and we had our Chorkie shipped up from a breeder in Oklahoma. The plane ticket was about 200, but we got a great deal on the puppy too. I think we only paid 600 or 700 total! : )

We love her to pieces! : ) We did make sure to ask a LOT of questions, being that we weren't going to be able to see her until we bought her. If you buy online, make sure to ask about not only technical details (ex. potty-trained), but the dog's personality too!!!

I can't recall the name of the breeder of company off hand, but if you give me a day or so, I will remember...lol. Email me at kelikristina@yahoo.com if you want the name...

Good luck!

P.S...In response to another poster saying that reputable breeders don't sell online, that is crap. Having a website online is a great way to reach out to people who may not be able to visit the site and make the purchase in-person. All it is is a use of technology. Everyone I know who has purchased from an online breeder has had great luck, so don't listen to that guy...

In my quest for my poms, I have found that word of mouth is better than most online sites. Yes, I have found places near me that adopt out poms (through online sources), but at least word of mouth lets me know the aftermath of adopting pups. Maybe look into local groups or vets offices for your yorkie. Sometimes they can be the best resource for you. My last pup I brought home over two years ago, I found him through friends that lived in a different area than I. It's hit or miss everytime you look! GOOD LUCK! And take your time to find the right place to adopt from!!!

How about go to your local pet shelter, talk with the professionals there, learn as much as your can abut dogs, visit a bunch, then go home, think about it, buy the necessary things you have to have to keep a dog healthy, then return to the shelter, adopt a dog, take it to the vet and make sure its healthy, then sign up for some pet insurance....

NONE! Call your local vet and ask if they know any good Yorkie breeders nearby or where you might get that information. Purchase by recommendation and in person only! Best for you...best for your dog!

NEVER, EVER by from a website like puppyfind, or on the net at all ect. These dogs are all just bred from back yard breeders. Look in to rescue or find a good breeder in your area. You need to find a breeder who knows what they are doing. Not just putting 2 dogs together to make a litter.

I agree with two previous answers. One, ask your or a local vet. Two try looking for one on PETFINDER.COM. It is a website that lists adoptable pets via rescue agencies/ shelters.

Please wait and buy from a reputable breeder. You may end up with a nightmare of health problems by buying on line. Contact the AKC for a list of breeders in your area. http://www.akc.org/index.cfm
