because we took her to the vet and we had to put her down. On the 4th of july we left her outside and when we came back she was bloated and the vet said she had ran around untill her temperature was 106 degrees and she was running into things and her blood cloated and then it couldnt clot any more so she started to bleed internally. It was horrible... It upset the whole family!

It is an abbreviation for "Disseminated intravascular coagulation"

Edit

Sorry KimbeeJ, it is the OPPOSITE of what you describe. Too much clotting.
What you describe is haemophelia. Rat poison also causes internal bleeding.

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation. It is when the blood in the body cannot clot, and the dog literally bleeds to death internally. Happens in cases of severe disease and common in the terminal stages of fatal diseases, such as tumors, shock, pancreatitis, heatstroke, snake venom, heartworm just to name a few. There is not much that can be done to stop or reverse it, and it is usually fatal. Sorry about your dog! :(

Disseminated intravascular coagulation
It's when the blood starts to coagulate throughout the whole body for no reason.
