Our family is planning a trip to Lake Havasu city this weekend with our family dog. I would like to know if it is OK for the dog given that it will probably reach 110 degrees.

I am sure you know what the two in the back are, they are purebread.
It is the little one in the front I am wondering about. When I first took him to the vet, she said Terrier Mix. I know his mother was a Chiuhuha. Do you think he is a Terrier or not. If yes, what kind of Terrier? Please explain why or why not.
Here they are:

I have a border collie/male. He is about 40-50lbs and 2 feet tall. I feed him 3 times a day about 1 cup each time. But, he still looks skinny. My question is how much should I be feeding him and how often.

My family and I have an elderly Beagle; we have no idea how old he is because he wandered into our neighborhood about three years ago and we adopted him.

He's recently undergone some testing for a mass in his groin area. Our vet has determined from an x-ray that it must be a tumor on either a testicle that never dropped down or the spleen. The next step is exploratory surgery.

We're going to bring him home for now; but we're confused at what to do. Even if he does undergo surgery, there's no promise that the vet won't find cancer, in which case our Beagle would probably be put down on the table. On the other hand, the vet might simply be able to remove it and he'll be fine.

Our second option is to keep an eye on him at home and hope he doesn't get worse or passes in his sleep. We really don't want to put him down.

This is very difficult. Should we go ahead with surgery or simply let him live out his days as best he can?

Serious, thoughtful answers only.

Cheers!!

I am going to be getting a beagle soon, right now I live in a house with a big backyard so as a puppy it will have a yard to play in, but in a year or two I will be moving out into an apartment. The things I'm concerned about is the yelping/wailing/barking noises the beagle makes, is there anyway I can prevent that starting as a puppy? Also, does anyone have any tips who have successfully owned a beagle and raised it in an apartment?

He's a mixed breed dog, about 5 weeks old, and I know he's not quite ready for regular dog food. I tried bread and milk to help him out. My mother suggested baby cereal, but as not having babies around, I don't have that food. Any other suggestions for such a sensitive young tummy?

Have a 14 year-old non-housebroken outside dog who is almost completely deaf and not neutered that I would like to be able to bring inside. Housebreaking would seem almost impossible, any tips?

Does the dog act aggressive, withdrawn or sickly?

My dog seems to be coughing or gagging alot and she seems to be stiff at times. Lately, she has been eating dry dog food that is all natural and I feed her Kibbles n Bits with gravy as well. She has eaten more of the dry food vs the can food. When she vomitted it was clear and bubbly with lil bits of the dry food in it. I view her stool everytime she passes thinking that I will see something (unusual) but nothing every comes out that is.

This dog is really starting to act strange....im not sure if she has worms or not. Im so upset to see her moping around with the droopy eye look.

Does anyone know ..what are the signs are if a dog has heart worms? Or, if she is just plain ole' sick.....

Hi, I have a 4yr female smooth mini dachshund and a labrador (10yr old nervous male). I want to get a new puppy (mini dachshund) to play with her as she is so energetic and he is grumpy (poor old boy).

A short coat works well for us as we live in a rural area (mud, long grass, deer ticks etc). However I quite like the look of wirehaired dachshunds - how much grooming do they need? are they soft and strokable(sp) like smoothies? are they smelly?

Also, should I get a girl or boy? a boy would have to be castrated b/c my female doxie is not spayed (my old male lab is v. placid, my dachshund is an amazon warrior, if short!)

I am worried because I had a puppy who went under anesthetic to get castrated and he died. It was so terrible i don't want to go through that again, but I think a little boy might fit better with our other dogs. Still, I would love another little girl, but my bitchy is sooo dominant. What do you think?

my puppy used to be on iams lamb puppy food, she recently stoped eating it... maybe because she stopped likeing it. anyways we tried another iams flavor but she didnt dig right in... infact she would eat a few bites then leave and only eat when i stood by here and made her... dont worry i was not abusive or mean i would just make sure she ate... anyways since that wasnt working well, I switched her again to benifitial you know the one with all the diffrent colors and veggies ect in it?
well my question is how good of a food is this benifitial?
she loves the taste of this i would assume because she jumps right in and chows down... but is there a more nutritious food to feed her.... im just concerned because this food is less expensive that it has more fatty fillers...

BTW my puppy is 6 months old and a border collie

they dont say if it is a one dose thing, or if it goes evry 2 weeks or anything just says to give them 1 tsp per 5 lbs. He is 25.4 lbs so I gave him 5 tsp. How long does it take to work? when do I give him another treatment? Do I have to give him another treatment? Do I have to shampoo the carpet? We are going to bleach his doggie carrier and machine wash all his toys on hot. Will the cat get these worms? We are at an extended stay hotel and will be for some time and there is high dog traffic and limited areas where I can walk him as we are in Miami now. I have been taking him to a totally different area to deficate but it seems there is only so many areas he is allowed to go to go to the bathroom. I have looked on the Hartz website and it was the same info I already have which I am not satisfied with....Please help me with my questions...also are we at risk of getting the hookworms? Do we need to go to the doctor?
