I have a 6 month pekignese-pomeranian aka peek-a-pom. When she gets hot and starts panting, she makes this clicking noice. sometimes she'll also breathe really hard in and out of her nose--sounds like snorting. Anyone know why??? is she okay?? she's had all her shots and been spayed. i live in arizona if that has anything to do with it?!

Pekes and the like always have trouble breathing, their faces are so squashed. I haven't seen a 'peke-a-pom' before so I don't know how squashed their faces are, but if they're anything like true pekingeses their breathing will be awful.

Have the animal looked at by a vet. You should always go to a vet if you're worried, and in this case the vet can let you know if your dog is having real trouble breathing or if this is an acceptable amount of snorting/clicking for her facial conformation! Make sure the vet has a good long chat with you and doesn't just glance and the dog and say 'it's fine'. I've never met a vet who would do this, but you never know.

She's so small she probably has small nasal passages, and most small dogs have some type of allergies *I know all my poms have* Living in the desert where it gets hot, and the pollen starts really flying around can cause our little furry loved ones to have problems breathing at times. You might want to call your vet to see if maybe she needs to take some allergy meds, or maybe they will have other suggestions. I called my Pom wheezy, he'd get the icky eyes and start sniffling during the summer due to all the excess pollen and stuff going on here in Yuma.

It's the pekignese side of her coming out. Lots of dogs with the extremely short snout will snort like that when they get hot or breathe heavily

Dogs, like Shiz-tzu's and Pom's will snort when they get excited or breathing heavily because they have horrible breathing when it comes to using their noses.

She's not in any danger unless she's dripping heavily from the nose, (a really bad cold) and will be just fine.

That clicking sound is actually her tongue. When a dog pants really hard there tongue hits the roof of there mouth. It is very hot in Arizona so try getting her shaved or keep her out of the sun for long periods of time.

Does it have a nasal sound? If it does, it's probably the reverse sneeze. It may sound horrible but it's relatively harmless. If it doesn't then you may want to ask your vet the next time you see him and make sure it isn't a respiratory problem.

it really is taking position to my canines immediately and he has a nasty chilly so he coughs then hacks so your canines might want to easily have a chilly or he might want to have like hair stuck in his throat or some thing, yet no longer some thing is erroneous with him, so there isn't any longer some thing to be worrying about. desire this helped!

This sounds like a pekiggnesse they often do that. if you are really worried ask the vet.
I wouldn't worry but she needs to be watched outside for long periods as tehy can get heatstroke easy.
