The puppy is sopposed to be a boy but girl names are good too. I am looking for the calling name such as scotty but more unique. Thats just an example. Its going to be big and used as a working dog. I love some of the names that people have come up with! keep the names coming. Thanks!!!!

Is it male or female? Do you need to include a kennel name? I assume you would want a German name, yes? What are some of your hobbies, favorite things, favorite movies or bands, etc.? Then use an English to German dictionary (try this one http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en ) and get ideas from there. Or try this site http://www.babynameworld.com/german.asp for German baby names. Remember the dog's formal name can be quite long. However the call name (the name you use every day) should ideally be two syllables and even better if ends in a vowel sound. Here's a few: Kaiser (means "king" in german); Meister (means "master" in German); Schatzie (pr. shot-zee, means "little darling" in German); Sophie (means "sweet" in German);

How about "Hasso"? It's a nice German dog name (for boys). We have a German Wirehaired Pointer named Hasso and I think the name suits him great.

I like the French ones above. Other French ones could be:

Chiot (puppy, "SHEE-oh")
Fleur (flower, flur)

In Hebrew, dog is Kelev.

In Japanese, Shiba.

Had a friend with two chow-chow dogs; he named one of them 'Poilu' [pron. pwa-loo] and the other one 'Pitou' [pron. pee-too]. In French, poilu means 'soldier' - not sure about the other name's meaning. A German name might be 'Donner' [means thunder, pronounced as it is spelled!].
