My dog developed cancer on the injection site of her last rabies vaccination. In Florida it is mandatory that all dogs get rabies vaccinations yearly. How can I avoid this vaccination which will surely kill her, other than moving to a more sympathetic state. (I got the 3 year Merck vaccine, but Florida requires yearly boosters.)

i have a 5 year old yellow lab. he's had chronic otitis (ear problems) since he was a puppy. we've been to 6 or 8 vets with this problem, tried every kind of ointment, antibiotics, and allergen-free food, and still can't seem to keep his ears clean. would appreciate suggestions from anyone who's managed to figure this out.

I brought home 2 new puppies about a week ago. They're half blue tick and half black lab. Things have been getting better since i first brought them home, they would cry constantly and make messes on my floor. My dad's really mad because he told me no to puppies in the first place. I've had a miniature dachshund for 3 years and taking care of her was nothing compared to these little rascals. They're only 5 weeks old but i've been letting them outside and they do their business out there. But the problem is i have school 5 days of the week and i go out on weekends. When im with them i pay a ton of attention to them but i worry when im at school and away because i should be there for them. Is this neglect and will they not bond with me like they should? any advice about my new puppy problems?

About four days ago my dog (black lab, 3 years old) got into some chicken bones, first couple of days he seemed normal and i kept an eye on him, noticed a bit of blood on the floor 2 days ago and then yesterday he started throwign up blood so i immediatley took him to the vet. Since the vet I dont think hes thrown up.Hes there now on IV,xray showed no bones. Is this treatable if he has an internal cut somewhere? i mean can they find the cut or will it possbily heal itself? hes bright and happy and seems normal.

MY neighbor's starve their dogs not to the point of death but pretty close. I have called the animal control about it. All that they do is go to the house look at the dog and give them citations after citations. When animal control does come to their house and citate them, they feed the dogs for a month or so. Then they neglect the dogs again. Plus they keep getting new dogs. Then the get rid of them. They hit and kick and torture the dogs but all animal control does is citate them.

I have been thinking about breeding my basset hound Cloe.
She is currently 2 years old and I was wondering if Bassets have any traits that can harm puppies or any genetic problems.

Also the breeder I got Cloe from, said that lemon bassets were rare. I bought one of them, thinking I had a special dog, a one of a kind. Every one I met that had a basset, almost all of them had this color. Here is a picture of Cloe:

Please answer, and please don't give me any there are dogs in the pound thing. Alot of people I know would love to have a basset, and I have adopted 2 dogs from the pound already, please don't give any rude comments either please.

Thanks

I just got a 4 month old pup from a rescue. I was told it was lab/hound mix and on the internet it said lab/hound mix. Everyone keeps saying it looks more like a German Shepard mix. When I looked through the paper work we recieved I noticed that the lady wrote Shepard/hound mix.
I have a 6yr old and 4 yr old, are German Shepard's good with kids? Are they aggressive? I havent heard much about hound dog's, but now thinking about it, they may not of had that part right.

I have a 5 month old Jack Russel pup who is really difficult to housetrain! She is a good dog and will respond well to simple commands - sit, paw, no etc.
But lately we are really struggeling to house train her. At first we kept her in the living room with newspapers and puppy training pads, which she used really well and only had the odd accident. Slowly we removed the newspapers and just left a training pad down. The safety gate was taken off the living room and moved to the stairs. She was doing quite well but now she will hardely use her pads and just wee or dirt wherever she likes. We have started putting her in the backgarden to try and train her to go out. We leave her out for about 10 minutes and reward her if she does something outside but she will wait until she is let back in and then go in the house! Are we confusing her by leaving a pad in the house? Should we just keep it to the garden now? Ahhh help! Personal experiance will really help? How have you trained your dog?

I take him to pet stores to socialize him alot.Atleast 3 times a week.He sometimes barks at people there, not alot but he does.Other people he runs over to like he knows them. How do I fix this?

My wife and I recently added a female Siberian Husky to our household. We have been crate training her and she is doing really well except for the fact that about once a day she will poop in her crate. We try to make sure that she goes out before we leave her and we always take time during lunch to come home and let her out. We have a 1 year old pound puppy that we got when he was 10 weeks old and never had the same problem with him when he was being trained. Any suggestions?
