Here is a very effective ear cleaner ( I do cut the recipe by 1/4 when I make it so it will fit in the dropper bottle I put it in) The Gentian violet is an antifungal and the alcohol (I usually use this) evaporates the liquid from the ear out so it doesn't stay moist (which is what causes a lot of ear problems in the first place). Good luck!
EAR CLEANER ( FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY ) DO NOT USE IF THE EAR IS
INFLAMED. KEEP OUT OF EYES.
8 OZ OF WITCH HAZEL OR RUBBING ALCOHOL
2 TABLESPOONS OF BORIC ACID
8 DROPS OF GENTIAN VIOLET SOLUTION (1 %) { Warning: GENTIAN VIOLET WILL
STAIN CLOTHES. IT IS ALSO LIGHT SENSITIVE. }
• MIX THE ABOVE THREE INGREDIENTS IN A LIGHT SENSITIVE BOTTLE. ( THE BOTTLE
SHOULD BE BROWN OR BLUE)
• WHEN USING THIS MIXTURE PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU SHAKE IT WELL. IT
WILL SEPARATE QUICKLY.
• FILL THE EAR WITH THE SOLUTION. GENTLY MASSAGE THE EAR FOR ABOUT 45
SECONDS. THEN GENTLY WIPE OUT THE EAR WITH A CLEAN TISSUE OR CLOTH.
• REPEAT.
• ALLOW THE DOG TO SHAKE. WIPE AGAIN.
REPEAT TWICE A DAY FOR THE FIRST 5
DAYS.
THEN ONCE A DAY FOR THE NEXT 5
DAYS.
THEN ONCE A MONTH AS A PREVENTATIVE OR AS REQUIRED

So with bloodhounds I can tell you all about ears. What I've found is using baby wipes works real well to keep them clean and yeast free. They are gentle (I use aloe) and cheap.
I also had a doberman with chronic ear infections...I used optiear, a solution purchased from statelinetack.com...it is a cleaning solution that I'd squirt in, swish around then baby wipe clean.

Grapefruitseed extract rubbed in her ears, or goldenseal powdered or Myhrr powdered might work. (make your own Grapefruit seed extract from some fresh grapefruit seeds.) But foremost you must remove all grains (all grains are yeast infested) and starches (great media to grow yeasts) and processed foods from diet. Most commercial dogfoods are full of grains, starches and yeast organisms. Make your own dog chow out of raw chopped meats (beef, lamb, chicken ) and some nice brightly colored vegetables like peas beets carrots (poached or raw). Don't forget the essential fatty acids. Include some fresh fish 3 times a week. They love mackerel. Does your dog have the opportunity to take sunbaths? That often helps.

rub gynelotrimin on his ears. allergen free food will do nothing. yeast infection is not a result of an allergy. If the antibiotics did not help, then he needs to be on them longer. Continue antibiotics until it goes away for good.

Does he go into the water alot? Thats probably making it worse. Water in dogs ears is not good at all. If you take him a bath you really need to worry about that. Other than that, maybe cleaning them everyday.??
